Rate my Cavs rebuild, need some tips please.

Well I'm in my second season with the Cavs association. Our record is 14-3 (Superstar) so far. My team lacks depth and bench, but has plenty of talent. If anyone could give me some tips on who to go for to add some depth I'd really appreciate it. The starting line up is pretty much playoff status. Any help is much appreciated

Here's what the roster looks like. Posted their current ratings too.

PG: Kyre Irving (85), Daniel Gibson (64), Tu Hollloway (58)
SG: O.J Mayo (81), Deandre Liggins (64)
SF: Rudy Gay (87), Omar Casspi (64), Luke Walton (60) <--- lol @ walton
PF: Serge Ibaka (80), No true pf backup
C: Kendrick Perkins (71), Timofey Mozgov (61), Ronny Turiaf (60)

i'd like to know how you did this. cleveland doesnt have alot of good trade assets other than draft picks and most of these players arent available in the free agency of the 1st season. just curious

I got Ibaka for a first rounder and some scrubs with equal contract value. I got Kendrick for Varejo and a first rounder if I remember corectly. Rudy Gay is usually easy to get, its been awhile but I think I got him for some scrubs with equal contract value and my currect first round and second round picks. I got O.J for shanon brown and two scrubs and picked up a expiring contract. But the draft picks usually go pretty far with Cav's

Oh yeah and I got a 2nd round pick after I sim'd the first season with them. And with the draft class i downloaded. The top picks that draft usually had five stars in trade value.

Well for mines i made Jamison small forward and traded him to the raptors for a 2nd round pick and james Johnson.

Move number two i trade walton and Casspi to the pacers for a 2nd round pick.

Move number 3 i trade tristan thopson, Alonzo Gee and my two first round picks to the Timberwolves for Anthony Randolph, Michael Beasley, Wesley Johnson and JJ Barea.

Move number 4 i trade Parker and Harris to the warriors for Brandon Rush.

I traded a second round pick for Reggie williams.

Got Ian Mahinmi from dallas in a three team trade

Signings.
-Signed Leon Powe to a 2 year deal with a team option.
-Signed Terreco White to a 4 year deal with a team option.
-Signed Joey Graham but he didn't work out well so traded him to the bucks for Carlos Delfino.

My starting 5 is Kyrie Irving, Wesley Johnson, Michael Beasley, Anthony Randolph, Anderson Varejao.

Bench is Brandon Rush, jj barea Ian Mahinmi, Carlos Delfino, Reggie Williams, Leon Powe, James Johnson

Reserves are Terreco White, Daniel Gibson, Samardo Samuels.

Cap room for 2011-2012 is 8.37 million

2012-2013 is 23.61 million.

Re: Rate my Cavs rebuild, need some tips please.

I just started a Cavs franchise up a few days ago.

What I did was mostly let things play out the first season. The only moves I made were trading Alonzo Gee and a 2nd round pick to Phoenix for Channing Frye and their 1st round pick (A terrible trade but it was CPU-offered so I jumped on it). Then at the trade deadline, with Antawn Jamison playing insanely good (he was averaging a 25 & 8 on 45% shooting and 40% from deep), I used the trade finder, found the Warriors willing to give up Andrew Bogut, and again jumped on that. Again, a terrible trade but that's just the nature of this game unfortunately. The Warriors ended up making the playoffs anyways so it wasn't completely terrible, I guess.

Anyways, I finished the season with the second-worst record in the league, behind the Nets. They held on to their #1 pick in the lottery, but I ended up falling to the #4 spot with Washington and Utah jumping ahead of me. The good news though was that with the Phoenix pick I acquired earlier in the season, I also had the #8 pick now.

In the draft the Nets surprisingly took Michael Kidd-Gilchrist with the 1st overall pick. Washington of course jumped all over Anthony Davis with the 2nd pick, and in a move that totally screwed me, the Jazz took Bradley Beal, who I was locked in on with my pick. I settled for Harrison Barnes at #4. Once it came time for me to pick again at #8 there wasn't anyone I was too interested in at that spot. I was going to settle on Austin Rivers but figured I could trade down and still get him later, so I swapped picks with the Hawks, who had the 15th pick, and also got their 1st rounder next year. I waited until the 13th pick to jump back in, since the mock draft had Rivers being selected around that time. I traded the Bobcats my 1st and Omri Casspi for their 13th overall pick and used it to take Rivers. To finish my draft off, I grabbed William Buford in the 2nd round.

Now heading into free agency my team looks like this:

Kyrie Irving/Daniel Gibson
Austin Rivers (6th man)/William Buford/Anthony Parker
Harrison Barnes/Luke Walton
Tristan Thompson/Samardo Samuels/Channing Frye
Andrew Bogut/Anderson Varejao (I start Andy at the 4 though)

I'm pretty satisfied with how my rebuild is turning out. I would have much rather gotten MKG or Bradley Beal in the draft, but I can make due with Rivers and Barnes. As for free agency, I doubt I'll do much aside from possibly adding a veteran backup PG. The free agent class is pretty weak aside from Chris Paul.

Why is it that everyone who starts a Cavs franchise trades Gee? I just don't get it... he can be averaging 20+ PTS a game if you play most of them. Plus he's a beast defensively, on ball and stealing/playing passing lanes.

Gee does develop quite nicely. I'm in year 4 of my Cavs franchise and he is up to like a 79 OVR. I was thinking all along that I was going to trade him and try to upgrade his position, but he just keeps producing so I had to keep him around.

Now I do use the development drills pretty often for young players that I'm trying to improve, but I usually only work on their weaknesses. So that probably played a role in his current OVR, but I don't think I went over board with Gee...think I just worked on his off & def awr.
