Any tips for a first time hockey player?

Hi, NHL 13 is my first hockey game ever, I was hoping to get any tips. Like is there any cheap mechanics i should look out for?

Learn how to play some defense kid.

Look up the teams forechecking strategies. If you are unfamiliar with hockey strategies a quick youtube search will have you in practice land.

Defense is not just checking

Use board play in the corners

Be patient with the poke check dont spam


The game of hockey is all about positioning. The best defensive play doesn't end with a hard check but rather a turnover produced by a forced pass due to great defensive positioning.
