On ball defense: stick shading/steering

Videos will be posted as soon as they upload.

Anyone else use this in on ball defense? Not just before the dribbler takes off, but during engagement?

I was playing around this morning and noticed that using the stick (with timing) causes dribblers to stop in their tracks, sometimes pick up their dribble or lose the ball more often rather than them continue to dribble you into the lane,..

Figured I would share for my fellow on ball defenders...anyone else having any success with this?

i use it, works great, sometimes online it seems like it doesnt engage tho. it def helps cut down on pg's driving effectiveness and making them go towards a big or certain area on the court

so you're basically saying when you know all they want to do is drive its kinda easier to defend them when you shade them. i've tried it but can't seem to find the most comfortable way to defend the drive yet

It's the cutoff feature where you tap left or right to take away the driving lane. I never used it in 2K12 and 2K13, because I felt I was giving up a free lane to the basket due to terrible defensive foot planting.

Is it the tap? I never used it because I could never consistently have my player respond right. Its usually that I see them just move their arm in that direction half the time, or alternatively not take at all. Any tips? Can you upload a video of your controller during the motion???

Re: On ball defense: stick shading/steering

Yeah, I got 5 steals from dribble today in a single game by poking the ball handler with the right stick (do not hold Intense-D though, in fact, don't even touch it). You have to kinda get away from him a little then run into him and press the RStick as you're about to come in contact with him. Works best from the side or from behind though it's not impossible to poke from the front, too.
