WR to TEs position change

I found a couple wideouts who are like 6'4 240 with speed over 85, I was staked at the WR position but needed some help at the TE position. Is there anyway I can change WRs to TEs?

I think you can do it only in the offseason. But have not done it, maybe someone else can confirm

Re: WR to TEs position change

You can't move them there but you can start them at TE in the depth chart

Re: WR to TEs position change

two rules. If you ever change a QB to anything else, even for fun, he will never be a QB again. If you ever change anyone, even for fun, to the WR position, he will forever be a WR. And moving a WR to TE is semi cheese but this season, the drafted players are so weird, a number of changes almost have to be made.

I understand why people say moving a WR to TE is cheesy (I mean does anyone really think Desean Jackson at TE is realistic) but there really is a need to be able to move WR to TE in some cases.

A two players I've really wanted to convert to TE are Vincent Jackson and Ramses Barden. Both are very realistic options at TEs, yes Vincent Jackson has a slight speed advantage but no more so than Vernon Davis or Jared Cook (not to mention there is a draftable TE that potentially has 95 speed, now that's cheesy). There are a few others I've wanted to convert but I can't remember who at the moment.

The part that sucks about only starting them there but not converting them is that you don't get their goal changes and they'll never be recognized like a TE so you still have to carry TEs that are essentially a waste of space (not to mention that unless you do cheese with the TE he'll never make the pro bowl due to the fact that he's recognized as a WR and lets be honest very rarely if ever has a TE ever put up numbers comparable to the best WRs).

What I think they should do is make it possible to switch WR to TE BUT make it so that there are certain stipulations to make it allowable (I.e. The option only comes up if they are under X speed, X accelertion, have to be X height and only the does the option become allowable).

Another reason this bothers me personally is when it comes to being able to switch a WR to a different position that's not TE. Like I wanted to switch Brandon Banks to a HB because after 4 years of making him a great kick returner (upping his carry, fight for yards, etc) but neglecting his catching because I never used him as a WR. It began to make it harder and harder to keep him on my roster as a WR simply as a KR/PR when I couldn't plug him in as my 2nd string HB.

Similar to how CJ Spiller was handled before he became a breakout star. He was drafted as a HB, switched to WR due to the not needing him as a HB but being short on recievers and the the next season switched him back to HB. The fact that things like this are a big part of the game of football but not allowable in a game that is supposed to simulate that is ridiculous.

Anyway all that long winded post summarized by saying I really wish they would find a way to keep out the cheese but still include these things. I mean you can do the WR to TE in the depth chart so why not just let us switch the position officially? Makes no sense.

Re: WR to TEs position change

There shouldn't be any restrictions on moving a WR to TE, but the game should be designed well enough to make that switch as bad a decision as real life. DeSean Jackson as a TE would get completely destroyed trying to block or release against OLBs and if the game registered that, people wouldn't even want him there.
