This may sound crazy but...Should 2K get rid of Tendencies?

Look, I can't argue about the effectiveness of the tendencies in NBA 2K...but what I can say is it's perfectly clear they aren't going to go player to player and update them. This is perfectly evident by guys like Anthony Davis and Demarcus Cousins, two guys who on default rosters barely ever touch the ball, and then they do they don't ever shoot. But honestly? I don't even blame them. It's just too much. I tried making a PC roster with completely revamped Tendencies and I think I made it to the Clippers and just quit...its just way too much going through all the post moves, the dribble moves etc. Which is why I think it is time for a simpler more streamlined tendency system.

That being said, the real reason I bring up this point is, looking at the draft classes, the numbers are so random that the players that come in just make no sense smh. Guys can have a 90 3pt rating, but a 15 3pt tendency...Guys can have a 55 Mid range rating but have an 80 mid range tendency...know what I mean?

I propose a system where the tendency is simply incorporated into the ratings where say for a guy with a 95 3pt attribute, develop an AI smart enough to make the player say hey, I'm good enough to hit this shot 5 times a game, so I'm going to try it 5 times per game. If a guy has high inside shot ratings, but low strength. make him a finesse post guy that mostly uses up and unders and footwork. And On the contrary if a guy has good inside scoring ratings and high strength make him a bruiser type back to the basket player. Make guys with higher "moving" Jumpshot ratings do more leaners etc It seems to me that a system that determines the players playtype based on their ratings is already in place with the "Titles" That are given to players, so why not just use that to determine how they play as well?...Seems to me like the only tendencies we really need are the touches tendency and a few others tbh. It just seems like a better solution than what we have now, just in my opinion.

Thoughts?

It does, and yes that would be a problem for guys like Josh Smith, or guys who hit a high % of 3's, but only take them maybe once every 3 games, but In that instance I'm talking about whole draft classes coming in where everyone is like that...the point is I think the system needs to be streamlined, or at least simplified if not just for 2K's sake so they would be willing to edit it more, and make guys like Anthony Davis and Demarcus Cousins play true to life.

This is another fantastic idea shady. People such as yourself impress me within the community. However the only issue I could see is a player who is a bad shooter such as Josh Smith (mentioned above) never shooting the ball from deep.

I like this idea because it seems true to life and would give strength and other attributes a real meaning.

However this would be difficult to implement, although it would have a higher potential (2k and basketball fans looove that word) than the current system to achieve realistic gameplay, rosters and draft classes.

I disagree. I think the more tendencies the better. That's more differentiation between players and allows them to more accurately capture each players unique game. Particularly when we play against the CPU. I want to see Josh and JR Smith jacking up dumb shots when I play them. I do agree though that 2K should overhaul them. 2K should just make them work better and make the effects more pronounced.

The problem you're dictating shady is that the roster makers (Beds for example) need to pay attention to the tendencies. In my custom rosters and draft classes I go through and edit all the tendencies because once you do the game plays SO MUCH BETTER.

For example go to the Kings and let no one else have more than 55 in the way of touch or shoot tendency and give 100 to Cousins. Watch him jock and dominate the ball when you play against him.

They just need to stop being lazy and adjust them player to player.

OR they should make templates that automatically adjust the tend ratings based on the player types they added this year. Raw Low Post Threat, Premiere Perimeter threat etc. should come with tendency templates. Then you can apply those templates instead of adjusting everyone.

Also tendencies just like attributes should change throughout your Association. Aaron Gordon for example may have 45 shot tendency now but if he becomes a Blake Griffin like beast his shot tendency should rise.

Funny. This is exactly why I disagree.

I don't know what Eric Gordon's 3 pt rating was, but he shot a higher percentage than Curry. 141-315 (.448) vs 286-646 (.443). There has to be something in place that stops Gordon from jacking up 646 3s because he hits at a good clip.

I just think Beds should concentrate more on tendencies.

Tendencies are more useful than ever this year...it's taken a long way to get to this point...NO WAY should they be removed now...

I agree with those saying it's something beds, who did a great job updating rosters this year, should be tuned into though....
