In your opinion, did David Stern and the NBA make the wrong decision by vetoing the C

The Lakers were supposed to acquire Chris Paul (from the Hornets), the Hornets were supposed to get Lamar Odom (from the Lakers), Kevin Martin, Goran Dragic, and Luis Scola (all from the Rockets), and the Rockets were to receive Pau Gasol (from the Lakers). Hours after the trade was announced, the NBA (which owned the Hornets at the time) decided to cancel the trade and keep CP3 in New Orleans until he was traded to the Clippers a while later. Should David Stern and the NBA have vetoed that trade? I think the NBA should have let the trade happen, because even if the Hornets were acquiring players with a combined less player value than CP3 (which is debatable as Goran Dragic has become a very good point guard), the Hornets front office was in favor of the trade and actually accepted it before the NBA interfered. Also, as the league in general was just coming out of a months-wide lockout because of a disagreement between the owners and the players, I feel the NBA should have laid low and been supportive of any decisions any team wanted to make, even if the trade might not have given equal value to all teams included. In short, I believe that the NBA should have left the trade alone and been more supportive of the decisions front offices made coming out of a long lockout. I think the NBA should not have vetoed the trade, but what about you? Let me know your opinion(s) below!

I agree. The original deal had (I think) much more talented players.

I just want to point out the NBA didn't veto the trade. The Owners of the Hornets did. Yes they are the same people but they aren't at the same time. The NBA as you said owned the team. Their decision at the time was made as a decision as NBA team owners not people that are running the league.

TBH I don't know if I would have taken the deal as the NOH owner, especially when I am trying to sell my team. My team has more appeals to owners with young talent like Eric Gordon. At the time of the trade Dragic was a barely a top 20 PG in the league. Martin was putting numbers on a bad team same as Scola. And Lamar Odom was a headcase. Also if they got the trade from the Lakers Anthony Davis wouldn't be in NO. So no they made the right decision.

As acting owner of the team Stern had the right to do with a real owner could do. It was a situation that didn't look well from a PR perspective, but nothing was done underhanded. If anything Stern kind of made it weird when he said he wouldn't intervene. Outside of that I had no problem at the time or now as fan of the then NOLA Hornets. I thought the original trade was terrible for us and would ultimately leave us in limbo.
