Anyone ever seen a "smothered contested " go in

Honestly I have never seen a contest shot called smothered until yesterday. The 15 foot jumper went in. Mind you I was Jerry Lucas. That's the first time I saw smothered pop up. I was just wondering how common it was

Off the top of my head I remember Kawhi Leonard getting one...

It feels like I dont see smothered all that often anymore though..

I only get them at the end of shot clocks because I rarely take contested shots and I've never seen one go in.

Something cool I learned though is, shot defense isn't just based off how close you are. Longer, more athletic guys can contest vertically from a decent distance away. Yesterday I thought I had a wide open corner 3 with Unseld and Giannis was closing out and I got "smothered" even though he wasn't close enough to block it. It even missed short like actually required an arc adjustment to get it over Giannis.

You would think smothered would eliminate the chance of green. Lol. But shows what I know lol

On the current Pro Am slider settings, sharpshooters who have all their ratings and badges maxed can green smothered and heavily contested shots pretty regularly.

I've gotten a couple with Joe Ingles, mainly due to corner specialist
