After 100 games played, MLBTS '18 continues to amaze!

After my game last night against the Marlins, I hit 100 games played in my franchise (this includes the AA, AAA, & MLB All Star Game as well as the Futures Game) and this game just continues to amaze me and continues to deliver easily the best baseball video game simulation/experience that I have ever played.

Every single game feels like its own game. I continue to see new hit types/varieties. New ball physics that I hadn't previously seen. Every game seems to have a moment, a play, or few, that stick out, that I can look back over my season and the box score and remember something that happened in that game. Ok, maybe not every game as I am getting old, but for the most part I can remember something about each game.

Through 100 games I've experienced blowouts, been blown out, cardiac wins, heartbreaking losses, and the unforgettable. I've had pitching performances for the ages and pitching performances that I can't forget quickly enough. I've seen plays that drop my jaw and mishaps leaving me to wonder how in the hell this player is a major leaguer. I've run across the most unlikely of heroes and I've seen the best of the best at their worst.

I've seen balls that curve perfectly down the line and get into the corner allowing an easy double and if the runner is quick enough a stand up triple. I've seen balls that seem to hang in the air forever as they "float" over the wall for a homerun. I've also seen balls that you think are going to get down, hang up long enough for the outfielder to make the grab. And I've felt the satisfaction of a pure line drive that splits the gap and rolls to the wall for an extra base hit.

I won't/can't call MLBTS '18 the greatest sports game ever because honestly baseball is the only sports video game I play these days. But I will/can call it the best baseball video game I've ever played.

Baseball is by far my favorite sport. I played from T-Ball to College. To me there is no other sport like it. And MLBTS '18 does a great job of recreating what I experienced on the field, on my TV.

What settings do you use? (difficulty level, sliders, etc).

Man I wish I felt that way about the game , I really do ! But for me so far (and I say so far as I still hope to get to that happy place ) it’s been the worst version of this game that I have played. Just have not been able to get realistic results whatever I have tried. I feel my issues are being caused by the fact that I play with pure analog and hitting is ok but pitching is terrible. Have tried other controls but just don’t enjoy it. I have made gains on it but still not happy with where I am at

Re: After 100 games played, MLBTS '18 continues to amaze!

I am having fun with my starting pitching RTTS players but am now totally disconnected from my 2B middle infield RTTS guy. You see with the starting pitchers I get to experience the game of baseball. You know when 9 batters from both teams alternate coming to the plate for their batting appearances for 9 or more innings. You know baseball right? It's a game that usually takes more than one minute to play and I was able to play baseball games with my 2B guy when he was in the minors and it was fun. But now that he has started his 2nd season and has been called up to the MLB team, he no longer gets to play in the games. He rides the bench now and getting his one pinch hit plate appearance per game despite the fact that his OVR and his fielding is better than the established starters.

I played all the Spring Training games in this 2B guys rookie MLB season just to see if I could actually try and win the starting spot, but I only got to start in 3 of the 29 ST games. 2 games I got to start at SS and 1 more game I started at 3B. Now this RTTS guy is supposed to be a 2B player, but not once did I even get the chance to play 2B in any of the ST games. Huh? Plus believe it or not I actually like playing SS more than 2B. I only selected 2B because I have this perception that 2B gets to field slightly more balls than SS does and if the team wanted to swap me from 2B to SS I would welcome the opportunity. But that's not what's happening. Oh and I didn't even get to play the full games in these 3 ST games. I was pulled from the games in the 5th or 6th innings.

Now it is not uncommon for rookie players to ride the bench in their first year. If I was asked to ride the bench and then double switched into some games, that would make sense. But now that the regular season is under way, the trend continues where I am only used as a pinch hitter and immediately removed from the games with no double switches? I know double switches exist since I have seen them happen with my RTTS pitchers. But they appear to have been completely removed from the game for positional players. So how many years must my RTTS position players ride the bench? Two? Three? perhaps their entire career? Kind of hard to progress with your field skills when the game never lets you field. So sorry I do not share the same enthusiasm you have for the game, at least not for rookie positional players. Starting pitchers can be fun as well as minor league positional players. But make it to the MLB and now SDS forces you to play in a manner than some people have no interest in. Not all is bad. But RTTS is something that SDS clearly has not completely thought through as not everyone is interesting in being Bobby Crosby. Some people would actually like to play a baseball game.

PS: I don't mean to imply that the OP is one of those Bobby Crosby RTTS gamers.

I feel the same way as you. Best baseball game I've ever played. I'm loving it.

I genuinely wish I had the balls to play sliderless legend difficulty

Re: After 100 games played, MLBTS '18 continues to amaze!

By far best baseball game ever.

I play legend hitting with zone analog but pitching I use analog hall of fame. I’m kind of in that inbetween difficulties with pitching unfortunately. Hall of fame I’m not giving up quite enough runs and winning a little to often. I tried legend for pitching and I literally wanted to break everything in my house and gave that up after 10 games. It’s not at all that I was losing was the problem but the cpu gets his bat on everything and it’s just not at all realistic or fun in my opinion. I don’t mind the cpu fighting off pitches but chase pitches dropping for hits was completely out of control for me. I had a slider that I completely missed on and pitched it a good three to four feet out side and as soon as it left my hand I forsure thought wild pitch and my catcher even went into that stretch and whiff animation, but the cpu actually took it opposite field for a bloop single. The amount of “lucky” basehits where a nubber off the end of the bat that squeezes through or bloop singles off the handle happen at an alarming rate on legend. More power to the people that like legend but not for me for pitching.

All that said though I’m with country boy. I’m 94 games in my franchise and I still see new things almost every game. I have not even come close to getting sick of this game.
