Madden 20 - Contracts

Does anyone know if contract system is the same? Can we finally front/back load contracts?

I dont think so..

when i tried to re sign a player the system seemed the same as madden 19.

Re: Madden 20 - Contracts

We can’t front/backload contracts, but the contracts have been worked on. They are more realistic in their values, the players’ contract demands are also calculated by comparing to the contracts of similar level players (which is more realistic), and also in CFM there will be scenarios for 5th year options in contracts for 1st round rookies.

So there’s been some positive work on contracts, but they aren’t yet as customizable as you’re hoping.

The contract system itself is the same as previous Maddens. The difference is the contracts in the base roster and what guys ask for when re-signing and in free agency are much more realistic. The problem now is without realistic options to manage your cap like offering front or back loaded contracts it's going to be really tough with teams that are already cash strapped. They did mention they plan on patching in 5th year options through the scenario engine at some point which will help somewhat. The problem is the scenario engine doesn't affect the CPU this year so if you are a solo franchise mode player the cpu teams won't be able to utilize this option.

Re: Madden 20 - Contracts

Contracts naturally increase as you get into the latter portion of the contract.

If you prefer to manually front load, then increase the Signing Bonus as a way.

Know this, in M20 your roster will be tested as contracts will force you to trade and/or release players to keep others critical players.

KC had to trade Tyreek Hill (to Bills) for Draft picks because Mahomes signed this massive contract and they couldn’t afford Hill’s asking price.

Folks are going to have to look at the Positional ratings this year as it relates to signing players to be developed.

Signing that 84 OVR aging vet will come back and bite you when your stuck with a contract that can’t be traded and his Positional ratings regress him to 70’s after 2yrs.

FYI, tried to stash a 64 OVR X-Factor LB on a low contract on my Practice Squad,, well AI (Pats of all teams) snatched him from me giving better contract also.

With the 84 ovr vet, if you signed him to 4 and he starts the decline, if he's cut I'm assuming you get hit with cap penalties like the past? In the past this is how it was done and I think this is the case IRL (if that stands for "in real life"). I believe often real teams get that the end of the contract is likely not going to be administered in full if the player would have been someone George Allen coveted (let's see how many get that obscure reference).

Re: Madden 20 - Contracts

It is tough - don't use the Jaguars. Foles and others have these massive cap-heavy contracts. I was unable to re-negotiate with any of my veterans, since it would put me over the cap - and I cant cut or trade Foles, because I would incur a 33M cap penalty this season
