How different factors affect sim stats
I've been playing this game a ton recently, it's like crack to me. One thing I love in real basketball that I try to replicate in this game (in legacy mode) is how certain coaches are known for having teams that are always good at certain things. Coach K, Beilein, Tony Bennett teams rarely foul, Roy Williams and Bob Huggins teams always dominate the glass, Coach Calipari teams almost always have great field goal % defense, etc. The kind of feature in the stat sheets you always notice.
In CH2k8, obviously you can change offensive tempo/fast break, and they do a great job of making your team play slow or fast, but I wanted to see how defensive pressure and transition defense/crash boards affects the sim stats.
I took an arbitrary team (Cincinnati) and simmed 3 seasons (93 games worth) two different times with everything the same except in one set of 3 games I had transition defense at 100 (crash boards at 0) and I flipped it for the other 3 seasons.
I kind of already knew this didn't affect the sim stats but this just confirmed my belief, as the stats were more or less the same. Some highlights:
Scoring margin: 1.13 at 0, 1.25 at 100
Net Rating: 1.6 at 0, 1.7 at 100
Offensive rebounding rate: .281 at 0, .297 at 100
Defensive rebounding rate: .732 at 0, .736 at 100
As you can see, some small changes but nothing significant. No other stats changed significantly as well.
If anyone still cares (lol) let me know what you think, I want to do more things like this in the future so I'd be open to more ideas.
Overall, doesn't seem like you can do much in legacy mode as a coach to put your staple on your team besides for adjusting the tempo style and putting your mark on your team recruiting wise.
