Question Soooo, are you part of the 'data"?

I think its time to talk about the biggest scape goat/excuse that seems to be used for everything wrong with the game with this release and thats this phantom "data".

Every time something is insanely dumb or lackluster we hear "data" being brought up, that apparently anyone on this forum is not part of this "data" so im trying to figure out who is.

We know ranked players are the minority here, the lack luster numbers for online mode brought us caf's in ranked, so we know its not you guys.

Caf players apparently arent either, because they dont like this change either, on top of the multitude of other changes made that limit the caf customization even more, like not being able to edit your move list, or ratings even while being OVR capped.

Myteam is gone, so the usual people that carry madden/fifa franchises with their wallets wont be in this game, so we know its not those guys.

So whats left? Career mode players? Do mma games really have a career mode worth playing for extended periods of time? Is it really this intricate? I dont think so.

What about kids? Children? Is this game supposed to appeal to 12 year olds? Do they even watch mma? Can they even buy the game without parents permission?

So i guess, this game is targeting someone that does not know how to access the internet to check anything about the game, forums in 2020 is as common as using twitter these days. someone who is happy to bash X 10 times in a row but wont be happy when they lose and then put the game away in a few weeks when something else gets released? I cant see how this model would work, as anyone who is this casual never sticks around, so while you get the initial sale, you lose out on long term player base.

I dont know, i refuse to believe that there is some "phantom data" here that somehow fails to include so many different player bases of the game, people who are asking for very basic things but because they post here i guess they cant be valued? So then i wonder what feedback do they ever take from anyone if no one here fits their "data".

95% offline player (event/universe mode). I dont think I've ever played a career mode more than once for any EA UFC game.

The average player is the guy who just got off work, turns on the Xbox and plays a couple of Fight Nows against the AI or continues his career mode for a bit before going to bed and doing the same thing over again.

The second most common player is the exact same except he hops on and plays a couple of matches online against other players then goes to bed.

The average player does not even know Operation Sports exists, let alone cares about it, makes a profile, and starts posting.

Then where are all those players in ea ufc 3? or 2? Where did they all go? They all seem gone, and why do those guys "need to be cater to" if they dont care about anything and will play 2 fights a night in offline mode?

Why do caf's need to be put into ranked? This aint for that player base

Literally 95% of these changes dont fit to what you just said...

Will this phantom player who plays 2 fights in offline mode understand the clinch? does he really care about the submission mini games? like this is such an over simplistic view and i dont see it backed up by any data or how they even collected such data. This view is like from 2005 not 2020, people search Reddit and forums all the time, its why those sites flourishing especially in covid times.

People grind and are a lot more informative about video games and their features, so this whole notion that we are somehow back in the 90's and trying to figure out how games work for the first time is simply not true.

Can you honestly say that you want to discuss this topic or do you just wanna keep complaining until you buy the game the day it comes out?

Most of them play offline so you wouldn't know, but they're not completely gone. Many likely have lost interest due to the lack of deep offline modes. These players will certainly be back for UFC 4 though.

They definitely do care about the gameplay. They just care about gameplay that they can wrap their heads around in the SHORT amount of time available to them. They don't want to search Reddit and forums in the limited time available to them either. And seeing as they make up the largest percentage of their customers, they MUST be catered to if EA wants to make the most money.

I believe these changes do lend themselves to an average player learning them well. However, this is a legitimate open question. Time will tell if EA has cast their net too wide trying to accommodate everyone, while accommodating no one.

Re: Soooo, are you part of the 'data"?

- Less than 100 people regularly post on OS about EA UFC. The number of members (not people who post but members) on Reddit is around 5k. Comparing it to Twitter is laughable.

- EA doesnt care about the "long term player base" because the majority of the revenue they generate comes from the initial sale. Even with all of the DLC they have for CAFs, the majority of revenue will still come from the initial sale.

Ok but in all fairness there is nothing about the mechanics for striking, clinch, or ground that are even remotely conducive to that type of player. There is a tremendous amount of depth to the controls and mechanics so I think that’s where people get confused with this whole “casuals” narrative. I can’t explain it. Can you?
