Why is the EA UFC online ranked community so toxic?

I play a variety of competitive games at a decent level. Everything from Street fighter to r6 siege. I can safely say that the UFC online community is filled with some of the most saltiest butt hurt losers I’ve ever encountered. People just constantly rage quitting. Several Hate mail nearly every session. And I’m not even good(floating between divisions 8 and 10). Nor am I an exclusive top tier fighter hoar. Seriously this is the fourth iteration of this game. If you are still upset or shocked that there’s grappling in the game why are you purchasing it? Am I off base or speaking facts

I feel like the community has been a lot less toxic than it was in UFC 3. I think having the quick messages helps a lot because a "good game" after the fight can go a long way. But I haven't played much ranked, so maybe it's a little different over there.

Sorry that you’re having that experience, I tend to notice more toxic players toward the top. I agree with the above that quick messages help.

Early on these games tend to have a lot of toxic players because the game is still young. After some time the majority of the players who care stick around and patches help prevent exploits.

Tbh I do find it slightly amusing to put “close one” after I’ve just ran through them or something. That’s about as toxic as I’ll get.

I look at the messages as trophies

Re: Why is the EA UFC online ranked community so toxic?

IMO the toxicity is because the franchise lacks community-based feature sets. For a long time I have suggested:

- Online camps
- Online sparring practice (unlimited health/stamina)
- The ability to watch any player's last 10 matches via a small replay file (which Street Fighter 4 had in 2009)
- The ability to live spectate other players (the current Mortal Kombat games have this)

I have even suggested a team battle mode where it's you and a friend against 2 other opponents. You each have a 1v1 battle. If you win your match and your friend is still fighting his, you spectate him. If he loses, you fight the guy who beat him while your friend spectates you. You and the opponent both bring your battle damage into the fight.

I know that last one sounds kind of corny and purists would scoff.

But the reason we have so much toxicity is that we have very few if any community-centered gameplay features. It is every man for himself 24/7. No team modes. No lighthearted spectator modes. No incentive to help anyone else. Imagine if the game had an online training mode and the guy you helped could give you an Uber-style review at the end. Like he could rate you 5 stars and say "This guy really helped my ground game!"

But right now, we are in a game where people make goblin CAFs with predator dreadlocks, taunt you for half the match, clinch cheese you, and then rage quit the second you KO them.

So, the answer is "We don't have any community-focused gameplay feature sets." Which breeds sweaty toxic players who will do anything for a W. Not all players of course, but I play many different competitive games, and I've noticed this as well.

Re: Why is the EA UFC online ranked community so toxic?

I think I’m case particular is I snatch victory from the jaws from defeat a lot. I could be say someone like Julianna Pena who’s slow as sin and has awful cardio. Getting the crap beat out of me going against Holm/Nunes/GDR but somehow manage to snatch a guillotine in the third round. I could kinda see how the salt would overflow. But the majority of the times the minute you deny two transitions on top, the opponent is back at the main menu before you can posture up
