MLB lockout

I was curious is anyone knows if the lockout effects MLB the show being released?

Re: MLB lockout

speculation on my part, I don't think the lockout will affect the release but at the same time a lockout certainly doesn't help ensure a timely release either. not saying it WILL hurt the Show, only that it can only hurt and not help

but my gut tells me Show 22 will be released sooner than Show 21

also FWIW only a strike has caused a mlb season to be shorter than 162 games. a lockout never has caused a season to be shorter. delayed yes, shorter no

From my understanding it does not.

The licensing agreement between SDS and MLB/MLBPA is not impacted by the CBA.

Re: MLB lockout

Only thing I see affected are player scans and obviously if the cba isn't ratified until march, there may not be time for them to get in new rules.

But I know they scan players in spring training. If spring training is delayed too much or doesn't happen on the regular scale, they may not get to scan all the players which may effect next year. But they did add a bunch of scans during the season last year so maybe they can get players scanned throughout the year.

Re: MLB lockout

I wouldn't expect things like universal DH, expanded playoffs, service time changes, etc. (if these are actually added in new CBA) to be in '22. There just won't be enough time for them to get them in before Feb/March when the game goes gold for release. I would think it would be '21 with some additional "features" and such.

The good thing is we can implement the universal DH ourselves. We can also update service time ourselves but that would take time.

the thing with the service time is that mlb wants to change free agent requirements from 6 years of service time to 29 and a half years age.
which means that would take coding in by the Studio and not something we could fix ourselves
