NBA 2K20 MyLeague - lots of high quality free agents unsigned

Hi there - I have a long running 2K20 MyLeague as part of a dynasty I'm doing. I control all 30 teams (just to keep anything too crazy from happening or to create better storylines). After this last offseason (it's 2022 now, so between year 3 and 4), a large number of high quality free agents went unsigned because the teams had no cap space, every single team except the Thunder was over the cap. Here are some examples of players who went unsigned.
  • Collin Sexton, 83 overall
  • Wendell Carter Jr, 83 overall
  • Devonte Graham, 83 overall
  • RJ Barrett, 83 overall
  • Markelle Fultz, 83 overall
  • Jawun Evans, 82 overall
  • Isaiah Whitehead, 81 overall
  • Juan King, 81 overall
  • Delon Wright, 81 overall
  • Chris Paul, 81 overall
  • Jalen McDaniels, 81 overall
  • Thomas Bryant, 81 overall
  • Jakob Poeltl, 80 overall
  • Miles Bridges, 80 overall
  • Kevin Knox, 80 overall
  • Mo Wagner, 80 overall
They are all good enough to be starting or key bench players for every team in the league, but they can't be signed for cap reasons.

What suggestions do you have to help alleviate this issue? Would it be a really bad idea to change the league rules in the offseason to remove the salary cap or luxury tax? Are there MyLeague settings I can change that will help with this?

Thanks for your help!

I just found this thread on the topic: https://forums.operationsports.com/f...-myleague.html

It seems like maybe I need to monkey with the min rating, max rating, and salary curve during the FA period?

I'm in the early stages of doing a bunch of sims to work on contracts and so far I've found upping the minutes slider and lowering the potential slider helps established players get signed as opposed to athletic marvels who don't actually play but have high OVR.

the game is sadly still stuck in the stone age with an over reliance on OVR for contracts, trades, rotations, etc.

especially as the ai team management logic was not updated since the OVR inflation over the last few years. players demand money in correlation to the value that their OVR had like 6-7 years ago where 80 rated players were very good starters/borderline all-stars. this is not the case anymore, but players still demand way too much money with such a rating.

also there is no I will call it "market regulation". if there are lots of 80+ rated players out there with just few roster spots/cap space left, in reality each and every one of them would sign contracts for less money, as demand is much lower than supply.

Thanks to both of you. I adjusted the min and max rating sliders to 100 and it looks like I can get a few guys to agree to the veteran minimum, which alleviates the problem a bit.

I am also expanding next season and may consider turning off the salary cap altogether, since 2K20 doesn't give me a ton of tools.
