I skiped the Madden test and it let me play with a 500 IQ

I'd also like to add for the first time in many years I feel like i'm playing the game of football. Even in the demo the atmosphere seems better. I'm guessing with the play by play and everything else in the full game this is going to be a very good fun game to play.

The demo? No. not so much what i mean is that EA knows we'll buy it9the madden faithful) so...

the games actually pretty good even though you can only run offense. i see two things right away

1)camera angle doesn't allow you to throw bombs at all because the markers don't stay(so this might be EA's answer to trying to throw so crazy) which makes the game more realistic.
2)Graphics are better in person. the game looked fake in internet vids. in person different story. It's like agood mix of NCAA 09 and then maybe a tinge of what last gen madden decent and comforting.

-As everyone has said the graphics are stunning. And to the poster above I feel that the faces do look alot better this year.(But I do not tend to pay much attention to that stuff)
-The controls feel tight and responsive, very similar to the control you had back in the PS2 days
- I think user catching is MUCH improved this year
-Defensive line pressure seems completely fine to me
-Since that guy in the review the other day said the QB sneak was a "money" play I decide to do a bunch of them. It didnt seem that money to me, there was no guarantee of getting the yard.
-OJ Mayo has a clear face mask and it looks good
-The demo has not penalties, no commentary, cant play defense.(They dont even call delay of game if the play clock runs out)
-Blocking seemed overall better then years past. No true pocket but certainly better then last years
-Animations are very very fluid. ALOT more so then NCAA granted I only played the demo and did not get the game.
-The computer defense does not seem to be a problem in this short defense. I read the horror stories and saw the clips of NCAA's defense and Maddens is much better. Pursuit angles, defensive AI seem to be much more geared to the defensive minded player. This is very important to me because I am a very defensive oriented Madden player
- One problem I have had is with the screen plays. I get sacked everytime, by the time the screen is set up my QB is on his back.(Anyone else having a problem with this)
-New passing camera is excellent and I do not have a problem with the scoreboard being at the top of the screen

Hope this helps guys! All in all from the short demo I am very impressed. I think this is the year Madden fans will start to enjoy Madden again. I have been a Madden fan my whole life but thought the last couple versions have been terrible. This demo is very promising to me.

I have to comment I play NCAA 09 and the tackling animations there are VERY solid and varied. did not see that in the madden demo at all. the tackling doesn't pop out as much as in NCAA 09.

Tomba I think people said they saw alot more animations in the full NCAA game then the demo so hopefully it will be the same for Madden.

First, Madden IQ is a fun challenge to do. You go through tests to see what difficulty you should play on, and then you have to play out different scenarios. I think this was really well done, and when I played the challenge in the demo, I think it worked really well (well, at least for the offense). It takes some time, but not enough that you just want to tank it. I think a lot of people who play all the time will enjoy this feature, and maybe, just maybe, this could be the end of games that cheat you.

Second, the only time you get to play in a real game is in a mode called "Madden Moments." The one you get to play in is in Super Bowl XLII, and lucky you, the Patriots are about to stop you on 4 and 1. This game is challenging, but I will echo, this is not a new engine (although, I don't think they promised that). The stadium looks really good, and the field is beautiful. The only gripes that I have are that the player models look a bit too blocky, the names on the back of the uniforms is STILL wrong, and the field looks too small (but that may be because it's a different camera or something to that tune).

I have played the demo going on an hour now, and this is 5x better than NCAA. Again, I don't know about the defense, but if they improved it in any case, it should be good to go. I'm a big NCAA fan, but I think I'm trading it in today to put down on Madden. And I will say this, I think this Madden could finally beat NFL 2k5.

Addition: Yeah, Eli has to wind up to throw deep. This alone makes my day, as EA in the past believed any third stringer could throw 75 yards on the run. Kuddos for finally getting this through.

I am a firm supporter of nCAA 09 and can't agree thats it's better just different. i think NCAA reminds me more of a college game and I feel the "money" the showmanship/showbiz of the bnfl with madden 09. it's more i don't know bigtime feeling. thats all. gameplay wise both play good. just that madden tends to be a bit more realistic in it's handling of the nfl atmosp[here than ncaa is with it's college atmosphere...

This Demo play wayyyyy better than the NFL DVD Demo! I rented that from Netflix and just put it back in the mail to return today.

I only got a chance to play it about 10 or so times but EVERYTHING seemed better IMO. From the graphics, the field color (not white), to running, passing and even the IQ test thing was way better. It did seem much easier that the NFL Demo but it was better. Just my 2 cents.

EA has always nailed the atmosphere for NCAA and I have always tended to favor the series but NCAA 09 has some serious gameplay flaws

(Not the first video that shows defenses running backwards either)

Nice! The QB winds up for the deep ball? That's great to hear. I cannot stand the way the ball rockets out of the forearm of the QB on a deep ball in NCAA. It's just one of my pet peeves.

For sure, I'll be waiting to see if videos such as this can be made with Madden. I am not a day one purchased any longer.
The demo reviews do sound good, but again, VERY short playtime. WHY?
And who would have thought so when the average review site is an 84

First impressions....

Take the Madden IQ test feeling ever bit of a ******. Scored 550-something. Rolled eyes at that part and the thought that a lot of guys probably marked out with John Madden telling them their objectives.

Enter the Madden moment, first play of the game I call a few fake snaps while sending a guy in motion. One of my linemen jumps, but no penalty is called. The lineman stands up like "Yeah it was me ref" then slowly inches his off the line and down the field while time continues to run off the clock. I'm sitting there feeling like even more of a ****** as I watch inch his fat butt all the way down field. Everyone else (both offense and defense) stay at the line of scrimmage at their positions as if the ball will be snapped at any moment.

With about 15 seconds or so I just start pressing buttons, happen to call an audible that signals to the wayward offensive linemen that we'd like to run a play. He runs back down to set up, but time runs out.

So my first impression is, wtf?

Let's try this again.

"Too bad EA owns the NFL license - I think competition from other NFL video games would do them some good." NetherScourge

I agree, the NFL needs to open the license back up before no one else can get a decent effort out to market.
