I took out Beckett because has was at pitch 98 and started getting tired. Yup... I threw 98 pitches in 7 innings. Awesome.

I threw out ~10 batters at first and never had the glitch.

I caught the other 11 outs in the outfield and never had any problems with the outfielders.

At the plate I got 6 hits and drove in a run off a single + steal with Jacoby and a follow-up single from Dustin.

All in all, I ended up losing the game 2-1 off a string of hits by the Rays off Saito and Okajima.

This is all with on the All-Star setting, so no custom sliders. I would definitely say the patch has worked wonders for me. The last game I played I won 15-1 with no strikeouts and 7 homeruns on the All-Star settings (same teams involved). I'm a very happy camper.
Out of curiosity, do you have release timing and/or zone hitting turned on?

I've found the most noticeable improvement is my inability to pinpoint my pitches. I'm playing on default Pro with release timing and zone hitting turned on. With Harden against the Cardinals, I was cruising along for 6 innings, giving up only 3 H and 0 R. In the 7th, I beaned two Cardinals trying to throw splitters inside. I also threw a wild pitch to the backstop. Harden then gave up a 3-run homer.

I was still leading 6-3 in the 8th, but then Samardzija got lit up for 7 runs (all after 2 outs, which was annoying) in the 8th. I think I'm going to move the difficulty level up to All-Star, but turn off release timing. I know technically the "meatball" is no longer in the game, but I find I get hit very hard if I miss the release of my first gesture and end up with the dreaded "tiny red circle." It's almost meatball-esque.

Quick question. I noticed in the 2K9 demo that when Pat Burrell came up to bat in Philly, the crowd booed him and Thorne made a comment like, "Listen to the reaction for this guy." I hadn't noticed that at all in probably 50 games before the patch. In my very first post-patch game, Torii Hunter came to the plate in Minnesota and got the same reaction. Maybe it's coincidence, but has anyone noticed that?

Also, does anyone else ever have times when they don't have the option to do a mound visit or to realign their IF or OF (this was also an issue for me pre-patch)? When Samardzija was getting lit up, I had Gregg up in the bullpen, and I couldn't stall for time by sending Lou to the mound. In that same game, there was an obvious bunt situation. My IF was set for a double play, and I couldn't change their alignment. Is there an option I have to turn on or off?

Since you own a PS3, that's what you should be doing.. What are you thinking ?

Guys, seriously, could you all just be as smart and talented as Guru? It would make this thread move along quicker.

Dude, grow up. You have provided nothing at all to this thread, plus I thought you said you were leaving. All you are doing is trolling so seriously just leave.

How do you delete a patch?

Seriously...

please define what the breaking pitch slider does it seems like it is higher on lower levels and lower on higher levels. I think. I have not tried game in 3 weeks. I will give it another look now that patch is out. I hope the patch helps because I want to like this game does have a lot of potential.

Looks like they are on the right track. I think this game is quite fun as a change of pace from the Show to play here and there..

different kind of game, but still fun. I haven't seen a definitive answer, (going to download the patch here in a bit), but have the OF issues been alleviated or at least improved?

My only issue is that the aggressivness still seems to be there.

Cubs/Orioles game I played earlier

Roberts and Jones swung and hit the 1st two pitches Zambrano threw.

A splitter on the inside corner to Roberts and A 2 seamer going away from Jones. Both grounded out to 3B...but I was hoping at least with not a fastball down the middle, I was hoping they'd at least take the pitch.

Not a game killer for me...but kind of annoying is all.

Just wish they'd bring back the CPU Take Pitches slider they had in the game last year.

I played a full post-patch game a little while ago -- that in itself is saying something for me, as I struggled to make it through an entire game pre-patch. I think I can safely say that it is now at least playable for me, however I need to spend some time with the game to see if it'll get some real action through the summer.

It still seemed that the AI batters were a bit over-aggressive, but I certainly saw improvment. I allowed 12 hits through 5+ with Ian Snell, but only 2 in the final 3+ with my relievers... which tells me that some of my problems lie with MY pitching. I think I finally figured out the classic pitching -- I think most of those early hits were from not putting enough power into my pitch. I really do like that if you don't execute your pitch, you will miss your spots. I actually walked two guys (and one IBB for Pujols).

Offensively I struggled, but I haven't played in two weeks or so and didn't even play much before that so it's to be expected. I'm using the "zone" hitting, which is quite rewarding... if I could just make a little more contact. 12 strikeouts I think, not very good. I did draw five walks...

As I said, the game appears to be playable for me now, just need to spend some time to get better with pitching & hitting. I had no issues in field whatsoever.

Dumb question: How do I locate the patch so I can download it. I am on Xbox Live - checked out Market place and other locations and I cannot find it....

Oh, no, its that bad? I hope you're not serious, but if you are here's what you do: LB RB xx LB RB at hard drive screen after pressing Y when it is in view. It will ask you if you want to perform maintenance then answer Y. It clears the entire cache and gets rid of all your patches, so you have to reload the ones you want.

Just load up the game (while on LIVE) and you'll receive a message that the game is receiving an update. Automatic.

i noticed something like that. when i was at the Metrodome they said that they wondered how the twins will be in their new open-air stadium because the dome has been such a big home field advantage. never hear that in 30 plus games at the dome.

You just pop the game in, and it will ask you if you want to update the game. It's not in the marketplace, its automatic if you are online. You can't even decline it if you are online. If you don't want a patch, you have to play the game offline.

Unless you actually work for VC I don't think you can say you know for sure what each slider does. I interpret the sliders the same way, but I would not mislead people because I don't think anyone other than the developers really know what each slider does or does not do for sure. Just MO

Exactly. Joe and I want the info from the horses mouth. Not someone's interpretation; no offense Guru.

Also, pitching is A LOT more difficult. I was pitching with Sabbathia and pre-patch, I never walked one person. Post-patch, I beaned one guy and walked 2 others unintentionally. You need to be much more aware of your gesture accuracy, which I think is a FANTASTIC revision to the game, makes you really feel like you need to focus to pitch well, which it SHOULD be. No more just throwing whatever, you do that, you won't have much success.

Fielding is no longer an issue.

Animations are smoother.

Game definitely plays better, just gotta start re-tweaking my sliders.
With your remarks towards pitching/gesture I agree...BUT...

Since I don't know how I well I actually executed my gesture I think it sorta stinks that the nailing of a particular pitch gesture is even more magnified. I unintentionally walked a batter and hit two as well. I've got no problem w/ that so long as I can see HOW I messed, a la gesture score 2K8.

Yeah I mean no offense to Guru either. I appreciate the hard work of everyone who puts a ton of time into sliders.

whatsup guys, i just played my opening day game. noticed a lot of changes.

-AI agression has toned down. got a lot of looks, Beckett struck out 9
-all of the default batting stances/windups are changed, they gave them their true batting stance instead of a default one (probably so we wouldn't have to edit batting stances)
-no more batters snapping into batting stance, MUCH smoother
-gameplay is smooth
-i did have one error, that's all
-no 1B glitch
-stats overlay were fixed for the most part, when i brought in a pitcher from the bullpen, it had their picture and said they played LF lol
-i only won the game 1-0 in extra innings, but i'm sure playing with the sliders i will get more offensive production.

All in all, an improvement. it's definitely a solid game now.

something i noticed. progressive lighting for day games, not for night? I mean, towards the end of the day games sunset is going on, that should be when the night games start!!
