and the pass rush should be worst in snow but it feels better then super bowl demo

I would love to know which demo is older...
The 1 minute one feels like it's on normal, have no idea if that's the case. Just seems that way from playing both.

because you're supposed to form the impression that you need to go preorder it from gamestop to get a proper demo.

The turn on a dime animations are still present; there should be more animations put in to transition the player from moving towards the sideline to turning upfield. Some random dude broke out of a 4-man tackle. Some of the tackles looked like the tacklers were trying to pull and/or hug the ballcarrier down vs. wrapping up and/or knocking him down. The gameplay is a tad bit slow but much better than the turbo speed of years past. One thing that probably can't be fixed is the playcalling screen. On Xbox, to choose a play you select X, A, or Y. I think it should be X, A, and B which is more natural to the button layout. I found my self hitting B and going back to the main screen. Minor adjustment for me I guess. The game overall feels better. I wasn't turned off immediately like last years demo. The cutscenes are pretty good and I didn't get bored with what I saw. I look forward to hearing the commentary in the full version. I think this is still a rental at this point. However, I feel if the effort is put into next years offering that was put into this one, we may have a winner. Still lots of things to be worked on but I am pleasantly surprised by the state of the game.
Harnalien,

Maybe there's hope? I really want that button layout too. I mostly played 08 on PC with a logitech controller that used that button map. It's a more natural way to have the buttons. But, I noticed this from the Madden blog, so maybe we'll be able to change it this year? /crossed fingers

I can't post the link because I don't have 5 posts yet.

"Controller Reference"
This is currently found on the "GAMEPLAY" settings screen.
***NOTE*** As of this update (2/6/2009) it appears likely that the 'multiple controller config' task will be completed. If it does, this menu link will most likely cease to be "Controller Reference" and become "Controller Configuration". Please see that GDD for details.

The game plays so amazingly smooth. It may be the smoothest EA football game ever made, the momentum is spectacular and the animations are awesome.

Although, I do think the game needs to be sped up a bit. TEs simply jog their routes.

The #1 thing rookies making the jump from NCAA to NFL always say the biggest adjustment is the game speed, and how incredibly fast the NFL is compared to NCAA.

This year, NCAA10 actually feels faster than Madden10, and how realistic is that really?

You're free to speed it up if you desire, they added adjustable settings for game speed this year. I personally enjoy the slower pace, makes things like passing or choosing running lanes more deliberate and stategic rather than twitch.

I think it's safe to say that as cool as the presentation improvements are in Madden 10, the gameplay here is still the same old Madden, which means bad AI, robotic animations, wonky physics and suction blocking rule the day.

All Pro Tak seems to have done is brought on the addition of suction tackling, as weight and inertia just seem to get completely ignored anytime a Pro Tak moment happens.

Just had several sessions of the 1-minute quarter demo thanks to the free 30-day gold membership I acquired from creating a different X-Box Live account (I love sticking it to the man).

I will remain cautious, as I'm still fearful of the other shoe dropping, with the revelation of some game-killing bug or the removal of a vital feature (like CPU sliders last year -- by the way, did they put those back in this year?).

But I'm really feeling the demo. Graphics, player models, cut scenes look great (though I'd wish the play-calling screen and other screens wouldn't block the cut scenes as often as they do).

I like the slower speed. Also like that you will be able to adjust it.

But, having been burned before, I will wait for credible feedback before purchasing.

Can't believe they have only posted the demo for North American users. My Xbox Live Gold UK membership counts for squat!

I feel cheated!!!! C'mon EA, get the demo sorted for us Gold members outside of the United States.

Yeah but his problem is if he only focuses on the Oline then he's going to miss other things. As I have said before, part of the problem is the OLB - Harrison. He does not step up and attack up the field a run play that is headed his way. Rather he scrapes/flows outside because the defense is in zone coverage - and this is a video football game problem rather than a madden problem - run defense being tied to the coverage called. So since it is zone the defender follows whatever the zone is first rather than playing real run defense

Things I still saw: (All-Madden)

-Oline blockers doing a 360 turn and allowing their man into the backfield without even touching them.
-'David Tyree catch' from Austin Miles AND Aaron Ross..in the same game.
-CB's trucking Olineman when catching an INT.
-Dallas Oline pancaking THREE of the Giants' front 4 on a play.
-AI Cheating: Whenever I call a 7 man blitz, the AI ALWAYS has 7-8 guys blocking.
-CB's still jumping up for swats without looking.
-CB's jumping up, missing a swat, JUMP HIGHER and tackle the guy. All in one motion.
-Unneccessary inaccuracy by the QB's. Ex: Williams wide open in the flat, no pressure and Romo bounces the ball to him.
-The individual crowd noises are very annoying.
-Man coverage is slightly better, but is still an automatic completion.
-Olineman STILL just stand there and let there guys through.

Some things I liked:
-I DID like the pressure given by the defensive front, that was very nice. I also like the interaction with the weather (ex. slipping/falling).
-The gangtackles are pretty solid.

Hopefully the real game is much much better and has less of these flaws. But I am very discouraged and dissapointed. Pretty much the same BS.
Vocal minority here.. I agree with everything you've just said. (All Madden) in many ways plays like '09. Missed blocks, cornerbacks with psychic swat skills.. etc. All Pro difficulty is a bit more balanced though.

While I think there is a lot of hype and excitement in this thread, I do think that overall the game is better, and is headed in the right direction.

Btw.. The graphics are kinda jaggy and need AA. I'm on a 58 inch plasma.

True, but QB play doesn't have anything to do with the deficiencies I described, all of which are more important to the overall success of the game.

this game is really fun. i won my first game against the steelers, 17-3 on all-pro.

highlights:

i threw a slant route to fitz over a middle linebacker. the lb jumped and swatted, but the ball flew just out of his grasp. can't say that would have happened in years past.

big ben threw a pass in the endzone which was caught, and the ref waved it off. then the wr argued with the ref over the call. that was awesome. he only had one foot in, btw.

the crowd's reaction to big plays is great. you can actually hear the emotion of the crowd this year. it's about damn time.

but in the end, this is just a really fun game so far. and that's all i ever want out of a madden game.

just to add - i can't say i am noticing the lack of commentary. lol. at this point, i have to say that hammond would just dull the experience. i'll probably turn him off in the options menu.

I doubt it's possible but I figure I will ask anyway. Can you play two player co-op on the GS extended Demo?

# 619 StormJH1 @ 07/23/09 05:00 PM
Is there any control input related to Pro-Tak? Ian and the devs said that the whole point of "Fight for Every Yard" is that you have control until the guy is finally brought down. But HOW do you control that? Do you push forward with the left stick? Is there a "charge" button (like 2k5) that allows you to push the pile? This is what I've never been clear on.

# 620 PuddleMonkey @ 07/23/09 05:01 PM
Have you noticed a big difference with the running game when using a speed back vs a big trucking back? One easier than the other?
