Do you love sports games and sometimes take them just a bit too seriously? Do you have a knack for putting words together in a coherent and readable fashion which people find enjoyable?

Then you might just be perfect to be one of the next writers here at Operation Sports!

Operation Sports is currently looking for feature writers to write three columns per month on the world of sports gaming. You would be responsible for commenting on the status of the sports gaming world in your own unique way while also interacting with the rest of the writing staff to produce exciting new content. A broad knowledge of different sports is a bonus, but we are willing to listen to anyone who specializes in one sport as well!

To apply, send the following to us at apply at operationsports.com.

Your Name
OS Username
What sports/games you can write about
Theoretical name(s) for a column by you
Three sample article ideas
Two short examples of your writing (400-600 words)

Failure to include all of the info, well it just won't be good for your application. Deadline to submit an application is June 20, 2010. We look forward to hearing from you!

Nationality isn't a big deal man. We had one guy from Korea write for us a couple of years ago!

I thank you in advance for any answers.
We sometimes get some published guys apply for sure, but we balance a lot of things when considering you guys. We have always had problems with attrition over the years, which is an acceptable fact of life when you have an almost fully volunteer writing staff (if not for the minor perks), so we tend to balance writing quality with guys who we feel can be a long term presence. However, if someone looks like the next Hemingway with their writing, we aren't going to turn them down just because they also happen to be the President of the US so to speak

Sent an application for the heck of it. I've always thought I was decent at writing, and I have a interesting perspective on most things.

My one question, should I go ahead and throw my hat into the ring, is 'Does proximity matter?' Not sure where Operation Sports is Located, but I think it's safe to say it's not Oklahoma.

Thanks, -Ryan

Small world, isn't it? If it was sports or politics, it was probably me. Hell, I'm just glad people read it.

Thats good to hear. My experience is in roleplaying. Like RPG, roleplaying games. Oh yes I can pontificate all day about sports... Its not my comfort zone. That said I'll apply anyway because when I blog at Blazersedge I get good feedback. I make people smile and scratch their feet.

Just FYI, I don't think most people will know words such as pontificate, so I'd keep it generally reader friendly. lol

If you ever consider to expand the site´s vision into consider other languages ... please count me in, as my native language is spanish ... I am a 31 years old bussiness manager (currently unemployed ... cauf, cauf ... with plenty of time) at Dominican Republic ... My hobbies consist on following sports, play videogames and write poems and stories ...most importantly, I am an OSholic ...

Couple of questions..How many will be hired? Will everyone get a note stating whether or not they got the position? Also, is there any timetable sent for the hiring?

Thanks,
Michael

Lol sounds like me. I just got a job and I still feel unemployed because I took the low paying crap position to keep unemployment off of my back.

Sent in my application.

It has been over a month since the application deadline. Has anyone who applied heard back?

# 35 T3B0W @ 07/24/10 09:04 PM
And for the above reason, I pulled my application.

Professionalism lacking for what I consider to be a industry leading website.

Good luck to all who applied.

I'm guessing this is code for "there is no pay for this job." Still, I might jot a few things down now and then just to put the line "I write sports content for a website with X amount of traffic per day" on my CV.

I teach college level writing at a major state school, and I've written for a number of publications both local and national. I'm too busy to commit to a certain number of anything a month, but I'd be willing to do the occasional review or preview piece on a sports game I'm familiar with.

I know it's not what was asked for, but I thought I'd mention it just in case.

The positions have been filled, but you never know when the site will need more writers.
