Destructoid has posted their NBA 2K12 hands-on preview. It looks like you can use any player in the NBA and use him in the Create a Legend mode.

Having the option to jump to the next key game really opens the door for My Player to be NBA 2K12's mode of choice. It takes all the great action of the regular game and boils it down into a condensed 10-to-15 game personal experience. And if creating a rookie from scratch isn't for you, there's always the Create A Legend mode that does practically the same thing with any player in the game.
A new "key game" selection feature helps make hoop dreams come true faster. Instead of pounding out 82-plus games every season for your player's career, a new option allows those pressed for time to skip to the marquee match-ups for their star. This means that monotonous games against the Sacramento Kings will be passed in favor of taking on Kobe and the Lakers, or whoever your team's rival is.

Most exciting news so far! Now I can get through a few seasons instead of one full 82 game one.
I'm looking forward to seeing all of the new accessories, shoes, tattoos, and facial features. I like being able to create a player that looks as real as the "actual" players in the game. Would be really cool if we could go in and edit the current player's hair and facial features, etc.
No it's been taken out and replaced with a Pre-Draft College All-Star Game.
Damn that's lame..
So basically the better we do in interviews and at the game, the higher our draft stock and ultimately we'll start out low rated and only get points via paychecks???

My understanding from what was said earlier is that Skill Points are still in the game. Paychecks are used for paying for drills and team activities, etc.
