REACTION TIME

The new Reaction Time feature allows players to experience what it’s like on the field as a true Heisman Trophy-caliber athlete. Reaction Time literally slows down the action, allowing users to look for openings in defenses and perform skill moves to get into the open field, before smoothly transitioning back to regular speed. Gameplay has also been enhanced to include special teams and an updated playcall system.

Discuss.

In fact, this same "in the zone" feeling is already happening for those who play this game religiously; they're seeing and reacting to on-field events quicker than your average player.

The fact that the devs say that pressing a trigger to make time slow down replicates what top athletes see on the field truly makes me question how much athletics these guys were involved in in real life. It's seriously baffling. Just call it what it is; an arcade style feature implemented for the casual, majority crowd.

To in any way infer that Reaction Time is some sort of realistic take on top-tier athleticism is laughable.
You've obvious never watched The Longest Yard.

Those that have cared enough to play a full career with their all-time favorite players have been doing it for a decade now using create a player and/or player editing. Some even take it a step farther by utilizing historical rosters.

So what exactly has been added that wasn't available to us before? A unique interface, some interviews, a goal system? So? The Heisman players don't do anything special. They don't look anything like they did in real life, you're stuck playing with them in modern equipment, uniforms, stadiums and teams.

I have no doubt many people will enjoy this, but I also have no doubt that the only people that will enjoy it are the ones that have already been doing it for a long time.

You guys are all seriously way too serious and dramatic about this game.

Hey are you the same facemask guy as the previous 3 that were banned?

I have to hand it to you there's not a guy on these boards who love face masks more than you.

I think they should unbann you because i personally find your post pretty funny all the time....There's nothing wrong with a guy who is just obsessed with face mask and it drives him crazy.

I wont lie, I usually run through a few RTG careers in every NCAA. I was alot more into it in the years were Superstar mode in Madden was actually worthwhile, but instead I just have multiple careers in NCAA. But adding Bullet Time IMO is one of the worst innovations. I'd much prefer a more indepth RTG then this. Unfortunately, this caters to the arcade game that devs have turned NCAA into.

The fact he was able to use it every single play is absolute garbage. It should be like being in "the Zone" like in NCAA 06-08. Once your player is feeling it, the ability is unlocked for a short period of time. Not every single play for an entire game. Completely ruins gameplay for me.

On another note, why was the guy bragging about how good he was with the feature? He was arguably one of the worst players I've seen. Didn't run proper routes, couldn't throw a pass and didn't follow his blocks while running. It was embarrassing for EA to have someone so poor with the sticks showcasing a new feature.

I'm not that impressed with slowing down time either, so i just won't use it. No one is forcing us to use that option, it's a choice.

OK, thank GOD that's a choice. I was wondering....

Just wondering, how much time and effort goes into creating a mode like this? Couldn't they just roll it into an option under RTG? "Play a RTG career as a Heisman Legend"?

You can tell that attention to detail was adhered to in NBA2k.

What I'm seeing here is nothing special at all. Where's the retro equipment, where's the improved player movement (atrocious turntable movement is still there) so that Barry Sanders can shake defenders out of their shoes just like he did in real life? Nowhere to be found. The absolute only thing thats going to be unique about these players are their faces my man. Come on now.

I know you're a fanatic about attention to detail also man. You're really giving them a pass on this ****?

This team puts resources in the completely WRONG places. This is obvious at this point in time. Sheesh, how many story modes are you going to have. You already have RTG.....You have dynasty mode....now you're putting in Heisman mode? Are they serious? Thats why each mode is half done, the devs attention is scattered all over the friggin place!!!

You even heard it multiple times throughout the broadcast, "we tweaked play call logic so they'll run the ball more for Barry Sanders", WHAT??!! So all of these years you refused to tweak logic within dynasty mode but all of a sudden your fixing things for Heisman mode? The logic and A.I. have been needing an upgrade since this game hit current generation!! I'll also bet money that its not even fully done correctly. Know why, because the other half of the team is somewhere working on dynasty mode, and the other guys are scattered somewhere working on RTG.

Merge that **** into one dynasty/story mode and focus your resources on that. I don't know man, I don't think these guys are very adept at managing their manpower brother. This new mode is just unnecessary, there's NO WAY around that.
I'm not giving them a pass yet, I'll have to play it to really give my thoughts, I just said I wasn't going to jump on them for trying to implement a massively popular feature that rejuvenated another series.

As for the old equipment and all that, there's a reason that's not there, they are modeling those players in the current era. To get rights to the old player names and re-create history ala NBA 2K would have been massively expensive as there are far more players on football teams than basketball teams.

# 353 Playmakers @ 06/05/12 01:38 PM
well if it's too expensive for EA then they should just add Player Traits and Tendencies based off of old heisman winners or former college players.

Then we can go in and create 1000's of players ourselves without EA and assign those tendencies and traits to created players just like the Option NBA 2K allows.

Hell i can re-create over 5000 players just by myself so i think EA is just being lazy and don't buy Odogg's logic to this at all.

But then again why would anyone want to play 1000's of players created by EA that are all rated 100 overall?

I could give you a better researched and better old school roster than EA at this point anyway.
