If it's not CCM roster editing, what else could it be?

While he wouldn’t be specific in terms of what the suprise announcement was, he stated that the Connected Careers team has been working very hard and has a “shock” worthy reveal up their sleave that they plan to announce either tonight or tomorrow. And this isn’t something we’ll have to wait months to get our hands on either. Josh quickly added that they hope to have it in the game within a weeks time from the announcement.
I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that whatever they are working on is much more than a mere roster update. Josh stated that he initially wasn’t sure if this would be something they would be able to get done in time, but thanks to the dilligent effort of he and his team, it became clear that the feature was on track to becoming possible sooner rather than later.
so they can add this but not player editing? But they have player editing for Play Now?
I don't know. I'm not exactly Sherlock Holmes, but something just doesn't seem rational here.
Most likely player editing will be in before they move onto madden 14. Patience my young padwan. Focus on the things you can control. EA has said they are looking to get it done and there is nothing that any of us can do to make it faster for them.

I hear you, but I just don't get how that was implemented in Play Now and not in the CCM? I don't know, Madden approach is mind boggling this year.

Play now doesn't include schemes and story lines and news feeds and twitter feeds. So much integration is going on that changing one thing could cause something else to break. Fantasy draft was easier because draft was already in CCM and all you had to do was change the draft class to EVERYONE and allowed 48 rounds to ensue. Editing was never in CCM so it's gonna take some heavy testing.

ccm is an all new mode. It's not franchise. So is the twitter thing. They added a bunch of new stuff but took out something that was the foundation of Madden. The ability to edit who you want, put who you want on wherever you want. The thing about Madden is it was popular due to the user customization. Now we don't have that.
Based on this logic, it's like taking away the gravy from the mashed potatoes at the Thanksgiving table and putting peanut butter on it saying it's something new and we just didn't have time to fix up the gravy. Maybe next year.
To the 30 & over crowd of which I am a member I say this : WE ARE ANALOG DInOSAUrs LIVING IN A DIGiTAL AGE!!! Online gaming is the present and the future an ironically is exactly the kind of stuff we (well me anyway) wanted as kids... So I'm happy that all the online guys got what they begged for (just remember that fantasy draft isn't an add-on, it's a feature that was removed for no apparent reason and than miraculously put back after enough people pissed an moaned and threatened Ea with abandonment) I myself never used it that much over the years cause I didn't like hearing the commentators talking about what a player did the year before on a different team as if he's still on that team... So speaking as an old fart who plays almost exclusively offline out of comfortable habit I ask EA not to forget about us dinosaurs an don't force us to play online with people who pass every down, run no huddles, go for it on 4th & forever, never punt, an use "schemes" all for the pleasure of saying how good their ranking is (I went off the deep end, I apologize, rant over)
If they add in the ability to edit players before they add in the ability to adjust your gameplan, run/pass etc each week then I will be severely disappointed.
I've only done a fantasy draft in Madden maybe twice in the 20 years I've been playing the game. That said, it's a good sign that they listened to a complaint from the customer base and got it incorporated in about two weeks after launch. So while this announcement doesn't really do much for me, I have no complaints.
I don't foresee player editing, beyond maybe equipment and jersey numbers, happening for online CCM... I just think there are too many potential pitfalls with getting 32 rosters synched up after everybody does their own edits on their own consoles... not to mention mickey mouse crap like beefing up attributes and a signing contract for your RG only to then swap him over to LT. Although I do think they could possibly turn offline CCM back into a big sandbox with full editing... but with everything else that needs attention in offline, I don't think that happens this year either... but I'd be happy with equipment, numbers AND position editing for offline.
So something that EA said wasn't possible to implement for M13 (fantasy draft) and would have to wait till next madden was easily implemented into M13 a couple weeks after release. Am I to assume they spent a lot of time to get this to us or am I to assume that most of what they say isn't possible to add just means they want to hold on to it so they can use it as for next years new content?
Adding Fantasy Draft inside of Online CCM is not that great considering you still have to use their CCM roster to start out with and only have 1 use of it. The part of Fantasy Draft I really liked was making a team prior and loading them up with scrubs then starting a Franchise with this team. This feature they added will only appeal to a select crowd because it is only available in one mode at the moment and won't be available to all modes until a patch down the road (don't know why they can't release offline tuner packs).
I also wonder why something too hard to implement into M13 was easily added, yet we still don't get any fixes for smaller issues in CCM (like changing your coach gameplan like mentioned above)? Hell, why are the refs still facing backwards in the game? How in the heck to you miss that EA in testing, GC miss it (or you just don't listen to them), you miss people bringing it up, and you can't freaking patch it? Played my first couple of games yesterday after the patch and refs still face the wrong freaking way.
Let me say this again, THE REFS FACE THE WRONG WAY. How about you actually play your game EA and notice the simple stuff you can't get right.
Jesus what a "shocking" fail this is. Especially when dealing with a mostly sim crowd here at OS. Not once in the history of football videogames have I wanted to go out and do a fantasy draft to get guys on different teams without trading for them. It takes the competitive edge off of everything and is just overall, very boring.
EA, don't hype something up that 90% of the madden population could really care less about when there are so many other things wrong with the gamw that could have been patched to increase the value of the game. Nice job catering to the 12-16 year olds who want Aaron Rodgers throwing to Andre Johnson in a Buffalo Bills uniform.

As I stated earlier in the thread, I have not used fantasy draft much at all... But I'm not quite sure you get how it works. The 'competitive edge' is very much alive in a fantasy draft scenario... You don't draft in a bubble... 31 other teams are taking quality players between your picks. Going for a top end QB/WR early is going to cost you in other areas... I can fully appreciate the unique experience it offers... The only reason I rarely have done it is because... damn it takes a long time... lol
It ain't about wanting all the best players on one team. It would much much easier in M11/12 to just human control all 32 teams, make any trade you want and then let the CPU sim everything else after your team was stacked.
