Learn all about shoes in NBA 2K13 in the latest Developer Video, including visual improvements, more brands available and the customizable Shoe Creator.
By the way, I made almost all those shoes in the video. At first the editor seems pretty complicated, but after 5 minutes you'll get the hang of it. Tons of depth to it! The layers add for some VERY complex creations. You guys will have a field day with it!
Nice!! But big question: Can we create Home & Away versions and assign them to players??? Didn't have the ability in 12...
Love the Creator though, looks to be very deep for a first-year addtion...Pre-ordering now!
hoping i can make the barkleys so barkley aint rockin generics.

I may have to dip back into the thread to verify, but it seemed our guy who's been playing 2K13 at Best Buy the last few days didn't think there was even a way to access the Dream Team outside of an actual game. That could put a kink in the plans to edit the generics on those guys. If that's truly the case, I shall hold out hope for the hexing geniuses.
I'm not a big shoe guy, but this feature excites me. From the videos it seems like there is a lot of depth to it. I will use this for 'My Player' mostly, but I will also create a few exclusive custom team shoes that I use just for anyone I sign to the Bobcats in association mode.
It shows you can select brands to create .. what if all the Jordan shoe parts are under the Jordan brand. Then we could make any Jordan we wanted with any color combo we wanted .. no ?!
Just a thought.
i like the idea ... but think they should be better ...
Probably they should, but it's still very good that the game has the shoes in better resolution by default as oppossed to the lower res 2K12's ones. It's great news for everyone.
The shoe creator is cool, but I'm still pretty pumped about the authentic shoes 2K's adding on their own. Their textures look much, much better than I've ever seen in any other 2K. And while I'm hoping for better Jordan possibilities, I'm also loving the shoe depth. I might have to mirror my most recent real life purchase and rock a pair of Olympic VC BB4's right from the start.
It's funny how little I cared about shoes since the options were always limited. Nothing boiled my blood than seeing the wrong colorways on Jordans. Now that i have seen this insight, I am completely blown away. Also having seen that we can edit Jordans on bigball12's thread, I will be spending alot more time in Shoe Creator than I expected.
word. all the vids ive been tryna check have been shut down hard body.
in all the trailer he got on air g's.
if they are in, are they the cb's or the 180's?
Very excited about this! Still have some questions that I think a few of us have brought up I haven't seen answered yet:
1) Can we download shoe creations from 2Kshare?
2) Can we take our custom shoes online in any capacity (for gameplay)?
3) Can we create home/away versions of the shoe?
...and now is when I hate all the people working in this videogame!
I am in front of a computer all day at work, but thank God that brick can't run 2K13.
btw, LD2K, put some light on the mistery of the primary and secondary team color options man!
My understanding is that primary and secondary team colors are selectable for each layer.
I see a possible workaround to make the shoes home/away compatible. Take the Cavs for example. Say we hex edit the colors like this:
Home Jersey:
Team Color 1 - Maroon
Team Color 2 - White
Away Jersey:
Team Color 1 - Maroon
Team Color 2 - Black
Then when making a shoe, all the layers you consider part of the "shoes base" you'd make Team Color 2 (white at home, black at away). The accent areas can either be Team Color 1, yellow, white or black (and would be constant regardless of being home or away).

I hope that makes sense.
That makes a lot of sense, but the ideal would be to have an option for the base to switch automatically from white (home) to black (away) or whatever color is specified as the shoe base color for each uniform (those who hex edit should know what I'm talking about). That way we wouldn't have to spend a team color just to get that.
That's what happens when editing the regular shoes: we have a base (whose color depends on what's configured as the shoe color base for the specific uniform), a team color 1 and a team color2.
Another user posted a video (2K made him take it down) that showed most of the Nike's that are in the game. I can definitely confirm that the Penny I, Penny II, and Foamposite One are indeed in the game. Didn't see the III, IV, (upcoming) V, or any of the hybrids (Half Cent, Zoom Rookie, etc.) though.
