Is it as polished or shiny as The Show? No.
But the things it does right, it does very well.
- Analog pitching. The most immersive and fun pitching mechanic of any baseball game.
It's also loaded with strategy. Hitters will get used to your tendencies forcing you to adjust.
There's also MLB data at your finger tips so you know what a hitter's tendencies are.
- Hitters Eye. Fantastic. Just like in the MVP series. I'm terrible at games, and yet I still feel like a stud when I'm using a top hitter in the game. Guys like Cabrera and Braun will be able to tell what pitch is coming with more frequency than a poor hitter.
- Commentary and Presentation. Best in the market.
- Franchise mode. Very deep. You really have to keep an eye on your players stamina and mix your lineup accordingly. And because every player is rated in every single defensive position, you have so many options at your finger tips.
The hitting mechanics are great too. I see a lot of variety of hits and you can definitely tell the difference between outfielders. Some can track way better than others.
I had always played The Show until one year my bro bought 2K11. After getting my hands on that, I couldn't go back to the other game. It was just more fun.
Obviously rent first if you're worried, but 2K12 was a great baseball experience.
If you listened to the naysayers, you would have thought you were playing an Atari game, but the truth is, while this game has it's flaws (which game doesn't?), it's still a solid baseball experience.
Looks like Pablo Sandoval is still completely bald. I wouldn't care too much, but I see the guy on TV like every day out here. Looks like the all of the faces have been untouched. I'm gonna be kind of pissed if they're still using a generic one for Cespedes. If I can't play as my home team without looking at 90% generic faces, it kind of kills the experience.
I know this isn't the best baseball game on the market but if this is a cleaned up version of '12 with everything working right (Which sometimes is the problem) it is a decent choice for baseball on the 360. I know $60 is a lot for what could just be a roster update but I will rent 1st. The trailer shows some good stuff, tho.

Isn't it time they talked about improvements and changes to 2K12? I see the trailer but it doesn't tell me what if anything has been changed from last year's game.

There was some good and some bad in the trailer, but I think this better than what we've seen to this point. Hopefully we will get some actual gameplay footage this week.

Excellent music choice for the trailer. I always love seeing the gaslight anthem getting exposure.
Also looks like they made the marlins park walls a brighter green. Sweet.

Overall looks very similar to 2k212, no surprose.
But, itooks like the changed the dimensions on Petco Park too. Nice. In the beginning of the trailer you can see the left center wall is 390 now, which is moved in from about 400-402. So it appears they have been able to make some ballpark updates.
The rest is typical trailer production from 2K (i.e., good), hopefully the actually gameplay matches what is show here.
Find out in less than 2 weeks.

Really glad to see some changes at least. It has peaked my interest again. What if, due to the time constraints, they just took 2K12 and focused on fixing everything. Didn't worry about adding some new wiz-bang feature but instead rolled out the old white board of everything they wanted to fix in 2K12 that never got prioritized and fixed it. I must say, I would be pretty darn happy with that....maybe not $60 happy but we'll see.
The game looks similar to 2K12, but I like the improvement of team colors (Yankees and Tigers look accurate) and the changes in stadium dimensions. Hopefully, we'll see more and I'm looking forward to 2K13 now.
