Offline, obviously you can edit all players.

Online, I assume he is meaning MyPlayers.

You would think a blog or more detailed info would have popped up by now. I know 2k doesn't market along the same lines as EA but it seems like Ronnie's Instagram Videos and Ld2k's rating announcements are the extent of 2k's current gen marketing strategy thus far(Thanks to both of them).

Yeah, I thought that when he said that "it works the same", he was referring to that, for online and offline, on the court (gameplay wise), you still have to time the release with the animation, the timing varies as shot animations may be slow, normal or fast. The animations all have their cons and pros.

And for offline, you can choose a slow, normal or fast animation ... as JW said, I also assume you can also choose for your my player online.

P.S:
Reaching a little bit, am wishfull that what he ment was that we might be able to use custom rosters for some online modes and therefore, it works the same.
