Does anyone know what ever happened with goalie collisions? They were pumping that hard in the summer, that if you ran into the goalie, he would go flying. But I'm not seeing it. They still have the imaginary force field around them as in years past.

Also the amount of power you lose in fights from being grappled is ridiculous. I pump a guy 4 times square in the face and he tugs me down hard once and my power bar drops just as much. Weak.

Love the game but the frustration level with EA is high as always (see: bouncing puck. cmon now, who thought that was a good idea)

I'm annoyed by that mechanic as well.
It would have been much more satisfying (and fun!) if instead of losing health, the grappler had free reign to clobber his opponent while off balance. Maybe even 'jersey' him.

I think the turning radius got better, at faster pace, it moar realistic then it was before. Before you could turn too sharp... So, that it better.

How many patches do they do each year. They should at least have them so you can use which ones you want. Like the tuners. Have the patches on a checklist & we can check which ones we want to use...

The game is really customizable (which is nice). They should make it even moar. (Like be able to adjust each type of penalty with sliders)
They patch something (BIP music) but in the process they break something else. It's typical EA!

Last night, was playing a game, puck dumped in, one little bounce, and on the second one, the puck jumped so high that Chara tried to jump to get it (might have been concussed hitting the press box in the process). You know the rest, puck went down flat, was picked up by Desharnais, cut in front, scored.

Even a freakin' tennis ball smashed at Flushing Meadowns doesn't bounce like this. I guess it's like goalies fight, they saw it once somewhere and though that was part of the game.

They'll probably patch it in the next one, but break 2 or 3 things somewhere else in the process!

Hey guys! I was seriously considering purchasing NHL '14 because I'm getting that hockey itch. I just read this entire thread and now I am thinking no.. Is it really this bad?

I know it sounds weird but I mainly enjoy offline franchise or BAP/live the life,,(whatever it's called now). I haven't purchased since NHL '11, which I really enjoyed that game.

This thread just spooked me a bit because all the feedback seems generally negative. I don't want to spend 60 bucks and get frustrated into "slider hell" just to enjoy a hockey sim. Or is it no longer sim and now an "arcade game"?

Help!!

I can't recommend this game at all if you're looking for a single player experience.

The AI is simply abysmal. Every player and every team plays identically. Season mode is a dull grind where every game feels exactly like the last game. The presentation is stale and unexciting.

NHL 14 is at the bottom of the sports gaming barrel when it comes to the single player experience.

Okay. Thank you. Based off your resume, I trust your feedback. I'll stick with the Show and GTA V. Just for sh#ts & giggles, was '13 better (on-ice gameplay wise), if I decided to pick it up cheap pre-owned somewhere? Again, the last NHL I played was '11.

While I agree with jyoung that NHL 14 adds nothing for the offline BeAGM player, I would add a proviso that it depends what the last NHL game is that you have. If you have never played the NHL series, then I think 14 is fine. I don't see it as a step backward, it is just hopelessly stagnant. If you already have NHL 10-13, and you only play BeAGM, you pretty much already have 14. In that case, I completely agree with jyoung. Boy does EA need competition!

To that I would add that if you want your NHL to look like the real NHL with regard to realignment and new uniforms (just a few little things), then you don't have 14. Otherwise, to each his/her own.

Does this TU just go into the /cache folder like the others? Just curious.

# 90 grizzblue @ 12/21/13 02:54 PM
Can someone answer this.

Do you need to start a new bagm offline to get the effects of the patch to progression? I know for vcertoan the other patch features were added into my pre existing bagm and was under the impression the progression tuning was no different and applied too. Is that the case?

It's official for me. Im done. This has to be the most frustrating nhl game ever. And i've been playing since '94. As an offline only player, the things the cpu is allowed to do is ridiculous. The slider system is horribly created. Most of them don't work. I've never seen a dumped puck bounce over the glass in my life. Every cpu controlled team plays the same. The gameplay is too predictable. I get pissed at the fact that this is the only current hockey game available.

NHL 9, NHL 11, NHL 13......all super solid hockey games man. Some people swear by 10 and 12 as well.

The series IMO has been fairly solid this gen. At least for my taste.
