MLB 14 The Show: The State of Online Post-Patch

If you read our previous review of Sony’s MLB ’14:The Show, than you know we absolutely loved the game as a whole. We lauded SCEA for the improvements to the game, including the highly desired online franchise. However, the game’s online connectivity and lag issues left us wanting more.

If you’re a fan of the series, than you know that online play has been a consistent problem with the series, but typically SCEA San Diego has done a good job of at least correcting the online issues where the game is typically functional. With that said, we thought it would be prudent to take another look at the games online portion now that patch 1.11 has been released to the public.

I apologize if this is already a thread somewhere. I'm new here, and tried to start a new thread but was told I wasn't allowed to. My question is, do any of you guys know when the Amateur Draft is within the online franchise mode? I know for the offline franchise it's in the first week of June. Again, sorry if this is posted somewhere else. I just haven't been able to find an answer.

I'd like to take a stab at the "older game had better online" argument. Today's games are sharing much greater amounts of data. Other issues also arise when people use wireless connections which increases packet loss.

Much higher fidelity = much higher data amounts and need for a consistent flow rate online.

The sad bit is that unless the Feds change course with their treatment of net neutrality, online games of all kinds are in for a rude kick in their collective junk.
Unless you pay more, of course. Per game fees online anyone?

The article's mention of the hitting timing being off definitely jives with my experience, and it seems consistently that way every game. If visually it looks like I am right on a ball the game will say I am early, and if it looks like I am late the game will say I am right on it. I am pretty much always ahead of everything as a result, even high 90s fastballs.

I agree with everyone that's posted so far for the most part. The batting timing is horrible, pitching is ABSOLUTLEY insane!!!! I can not stand the ball floating to the plate that's begging for my opponent to crush it into the next state, although on his end when the game finally recognizes that he made a hefty hack at the meaty pitch, it's already the next inning. The warping players and warping balls in play I know can be fixed with time but damn how long do we have to wait???? I was so excited for this years version because I had copped my ps4 when they first came out but I had to go ahead and buy the ps3 version because I was that excited. Needless to say I was very disappointed in online play and now will be waiting to purchase my ps4 copy until I know all the kinks are worked out and us fans of the show can have a relaxing yet competitive matchup in online rated match play. Anyone with details as to when the next patch will be available and what it might fix please comment!!! Or where I could possibly find more info.
