NBA 2K15 gameplay footage has started to leak out from Gamescom. Check out the first clip at Gamersyde, featuring the Miami Heat vs. San Antonio Spurs.
Players seem to move slower, perhaps better foot planting and weight mattering. Also passing seems different. Thats all I could take away from the vids.
yep looks like a "release when green" shot meter which takes away need to learn jumpshots. I hope I am wrong because that's ultimate hand holding
Or maybe they removed letter grades as in hoped and the meter measures shot release by either being green white or red
yeah I thought the whole point was removing meters from the game all those years ago (i hate meters), and using an animation led system instead. hopefully that is just a learning tool that you can turn off. I do not want any meters uglying up my beautiful looking game of basketball!
The movement and animations were the first thing that stood out to me. Looks good. Some of the individual movements seem a bit slow motion but nothing that sliders can't fix.
...something caught my eye (and not in a good way at all)...
Ouch... @1:08 mark, lower right hand corner. Spurs defender completely ice skates over to the paint. I guess the court is a little too slippery. Ouch.
... more ouch. @1:18 mark, Miami heat player inside the paint, skates/slides over to protect the rim.
Personally when I look at NBA 2k footage, I'm simply looking at the footplant of the defenders and it appears more work is still heavily needed. Still too much sliding, lack of footplanting by defenders.
Couple things I didn't like about 14 are gone. The speed is turned down thank god, and the floor isn't a ice rink anymore.
It may just be me but the ball looks like it hits the rim and backboard harder now as well. I also liked the camera angle after Belinelli hit the 3 and my god that scoreboard is nice. They really need to just get the TNT license I mean, at this point they basically have the same scoreboard.
