NBA Live 15 News Post

We had our first glimpse of NBA Live 15 way back in April, then in June we found out the release date (October 7th) and read an open letter from Sean O’Brien, which promised a lot for NBA Live fans to be excited about. Here is a direct quote from it.

Quote:
We’ll start sharing gameplay details in July, and will continue to provide in-depth insight through August and September. During this time there will be plenty of content popping up here on the NBA LIVE website, as well as hands-on previews from your favorite sports and gaming outlets. We know we’ve got a lot to prove this year, and we’ve got a solid plan in place to provide you with all the details and take the first steps to making NBA LIVE 15 a game you’re excited to play.

Looking back at July, gameplay details were not revealed. In fact, the only real information that we had in the month of July was that a demo could come earlier than expected and they placed the @NBA Twitter handle on the basketball. Maybe the loss of Scott O'Gallaher sent them scrambling? Who knows, let's move on to August.

This month has been filled with screenshots of various arenas and a late Damian Lillard cover announcement with a few more screenshots of him sprinkled in. Not exactly the "in-depth insight" fans were expecting.

While there were some hands-on impressions in August from GameInformer and MMGN, as well as a podcast from our friends at NLSC, no other site has written anything else about the game.

So here we are, almost in September and we still don't know what to expect from the game. What modes are there? What gameplay changes have been made? What are they hiding from us?

NBA Live fans deserve better.

I believe that those who are open to judging this game on its own merit, versus the recent history of the Live series, will be pleasantly surprised.

The development team is set, and they're a very talented group of guys.
I think it might surprise us and be very good. I hope

Of course, we are getting the short end of the stick! They sold us NBA LIVE 14 (and released it at full POP) !!! And that was terrible!!! They told us that they didn't have enough time for 14??? So they really have been working on LIVE 15, while throwing together some scraps, and called it LIVE14. How do you tell Us that, they are scanning faces for the game, and not put it into the current game? Then tell Us it's for LIVE15, wtf? How do you go from 10-15 dunk animations, to over 400 dunk animations in "ONE" development cycle???
I remember when P. Moore was heading the EA SPORT division, and wanted customers to see what was going on behind the scenes, and development of their games...(hope some of you remember that); so why are they so shady with all their products now??? Wait and see I guess!

Wait and see only works when you can trust the person behind the product and in this case the company, EA has to earn that respect back from the consumer, I respect your opinion WTF but we are a little more than a month from release and less than that before someone gets the game early, we have to see something soon before EA loses all chance to control the source material and not like last year when they claimed that their trailer was 100 percent gameplay and it clearly was not.

So what happens if the trailer that drops this week apparently is like this one last year.

Well at least we know the graphics, lighting, and body types will be better...All I care about is the gameplay being solid...I wonder if we get any info tomorrow even though it's Labor Day?? I'm surprised Live fans haven't been protesting in the streets the way EA has treated you the last 4 years. Ya'll super loyal..

That actually made Live 14 look almost okay imo, probably because it was such a tiny snippet. But we all know how the gameplay turned out overall. I guess the lesson is people shouldn't take too much from these cinematic type trailers but instead make up their minds from playing the demo. Or at least watching a few possessions of an unadulterated, raw gameplay video with someone who knows how to play the game.

To everybody saying 2k hasn't shown anything as well...you're kidding right? They have actual gameplay videos from gamescom on this very site and on youtube. SMH

Honestly even if we do get a cinematic type trailer, they are usually not that hard to dissect.. It wasn't hard to see Live 14 wasn't going to be any good. So if the game actually has improved by a slightly less than dramatic amount, any type of media released could still result in gain.

But in the trailer you can tell that the defense was terrible..Look how easy Kyrie blew by Felton with a simple crossover..And then that ugly layup over Chandler...Just show me buttery smooth gameplay..I feel like WTF knows the gameplay is good, he justs wants us to see it for ourselves...That's why he says be patient..O'Brien said we will get our fill of info this week..Let the floodgates open..

Did you just state that the game was improved from a screen shot when one was taken from a trailer and the other from who knows, if you want to claim graphically fine but how are we to know this is how he will actually look when we play the game there is no other players around to determine this could just be a marketing photo.

I don't think any of these are trailer shots...

Lol "wait and see"

Isn't that what we've been doing for the last few years? Taking a "wait and see" approach? What good has done them?

And then every year, the same thing is getting repeated by the same people about this game and then we eventually end up to threads like this popping up every year. Because if the game was doing what it was supposed to and what EA said they would do, this thread wouldn't even be here.

I hated the game at release last year PPM. So if you're referring to me saying the same thing every year, you can drop that. It wasn't til after the patch that it was playable.

They made several strides last year. They followed up on their word by sending out several big updates to the game. Was it worth the $60 last year? Depends on what you're looking for.

The team that is in place right now, at this moment, moving forward has a chemistry from working together on prior titles. That can't be understated.

Regardless, some guys have their minds made up. They'll release a demo, and information is getting ready to start dropping. If you look at it, and it's not for you, then pass. Nobody is forcing you to preorder. Take a wait and see approach.

O'brien said on twitter this morning that they're working on the ps4 version of the demo right now. EA Access will be there for x1 guys. Play it. Make your own judgment based on the game, not on what marketing has or hasn't provided.

For those that use twitter, go check out @seanobs . He's answered several tweets this morning,.

I don't understand how EA's marketing works. Knowing last years failures they continue to be 'soft' and going behind 2k moves. No trailers, no gameplays....

# 138 WTF @ 09/01/14 08:58 AM
The trailer is coming this week. That was posted by OB in one of his twitter conversations I believe.

# 139 ProfessaPackMan @ 09/01/14 09:19 AM
I'm referring to anyone who thinks that comment applies to.

And yes, they followed up on their word to release updates AFTER they were catching flak from people for not doing what THEY had promised/told us. And I see they learned their lesson from that mistake because they're not doing it this year, which is probably a good thing.

As for if I think the game was $60? I don't think any game that limits or basically removes user customization is worth $60 and you'll be hard pressed to find anyone that disagrees with that sentiment.

Don't care about what they say they're going to do at this point. I don't even care about getting any new information or any new stills from them because that's never been an issue. They've done enough talking over the years that it just goes in one ear and out the other.

Just release a demo/game and we'll go from there.

Truth be told man, I think that could be the best thing for Live right now.
