NBA 2K15 News Post

Chris "LD2K" Manning and the NBA 2K15 developer team just sent us the full list and description of the NBA 2K15 badges. These badges are exclusive to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Quote:
This year we combined Personality Badges and Signature Skills into one “Badge” list. Badges uniquely identify players in two ways: Personality and Skill. They affect how players react to various emotional situations, as well as how they perform in specific in-game scenarios.

Dreamlike Up and Under - Uses an array of up-fakes in the post to fool his defender into jumping

Something tells me that this is going to be OP

If it is, It's most likely a rare badge. I can only think of Hakeem and Embiid having it tbh outside of your myplayer.

I'd have Al Jefferson and Luis Scola with that badge before Embiid. I don't think he has proved he could have that badge yet. That amazing up and under he did in college was against college players, so you can't say NBA players would react the same way.

But I get your point about it being rare. I don't think it will be OP though.

Hakeem Olajuwon was the first player I thought of when I saw that badge's name.

I mean, come on. "DREAMlike." He's my favorite player of all time--how could I NOT notice that?

(be warned, despite this video having some pretty rare footage, the volume fluctuates wildly from clip to clip, so take off your headphones)

if 'rim protector' was in, what would be the difference between that and eraser?

I get that, but Luis Scola has regressed dramatically from what he was, he's mainly a pick and pop guy now with the occasional underhand layup(basically Antawn Jamison on the Lakers smh). Big Al definitely is the best big in the post now, but this badge just screams "Hakeem like"(even the name says Dream lol) and Embiid is probably the closest size, mobility, skill wise we've seen. I think he needs to earn it as well, but if anyone other than Hakeem had it I wouldn't mind it be him.

Same, and it's always amazing watching one of the greats highlights.

With rim protector you will alter the layup/floater forcing to miss even without blocking the shot

# 71 nhfvnx @ 09/20/14 04:12 AM
Some good combinations can be made with this list.

I agree about the rim protector badge. I think some people are very good at altering shots without neccesarily getting the block and I would have liked to see that represented.
I would also have liked to see an "intimidator" badge which would lower the opponents tendency to drive against such a player, both in the set offense and in the open court (fast breaks etc.)
Because a lot of what these so called rim protector\anchors do is mental. Opponents are less likely to even attempt to drive inside vs. a Dwight\Hibbert\Chandler\Marc or Dikembe type of guy, but also some other "scary" defenders (Artest in his glory days, or Rodman both come to mind, even devoid of elite shot blocking skills).

What's cool about this type of badge is that it would alter more than just shot %, but also the "decision making" of AI players.

You like?

Sounds like a bandaid for the longstanding problem of your AI controlled teammates offensive awareness/IQ virtually disappearing while your MyPlayer is on the court. I hope the AI has been tweaked in this respect so I don't have to lean on this particular badge. But I see how it could ease frustration.

And it is very frustrating when my star teammate keeps passing me the ball back like it's a hot potato instead of being aggressive or taking the shot I set up for him (I play point). Yet when I watch from the bench everyone remembers how to play.

Perhaps "Eraser" could work as the expected Rim Protector badge...

Cheers! ;-)

Dirk should have it as well (in my opinion).

Eraser creates rhythm boosts on blocked shots.

Rim Protector changes shots inside even without actually resulting in a block. It's the intimidation factor and ability to bother shots outside of spiking shots into the third row.

Al Jefferson without a doubt earned that dreamlike up and under. He is the best offensive big man in the post, simply cant guard him on the block.

Sweet. The complaints about players having/not having certain badges will be endless.

It seems as if there is a mixed reaction so far for the new badge system. I for one am super excited about the changes. I am one of those guys who spent almost just as many hours editing/tweaking the roster on 2k14 as I did playing the game (i like to think I did a good job considering i had one of the most DL'ed rosters). One of the reasons why I am excited about the new system is because I think it will add so much depth to the rosters. When you think about it, no 2 players are exactly the same, i.e you have players in the league that are good transition finishers and then you have players in the league that are great transition finishers. Although there are many knock down shooters in the league, there is a difference between a shooter such as J. Harden and a shooter such as S. Curry. Now that I have an idea on how the new system will work, I have already begun to setup my roster.
Here are a few players I have listed so far:

(Although i don't expect everyone to agree with my take. I must say that, my ratings are completely unbiased. I am a fan of the NBA and the players and not of any specific team. I am a League Pass guy, I watch pretty much every game, every night, I base ratings on how I see them.)

(Even though i am a die hard Lebron fan and even though he is the best player on the planet. I believe i gave him the correct amount of badges so either he slightly overrated on the game or I am missing something.)

I can't wait to test out the new system and gameplay. The only thing I wonder about is if there will be a noticeable difference between someone who has a skill in gold and someone who has that same badge but in Bronze or Silver (I hope so).
