First, no disrespect intended or offense either. You have some legitimate concerns but mixed in with those are unrealistic expectations.

Let's go into your complaint about the name chosen for this year's mode.

Yes. It is an unreasonable leap to surmise or expect the equivalent.

I think we all can start with the following:

Simmballer practically lays it all out, saying they wanted to implement and release what worked within the architecture they have. It is much more realistic to expect a mode that works. In the past, 2K has received criticism, rightly, that their online mode failed to work. Re-establishing an online league mode within the game that works is the main focus. At this point in development, the most important thing is to establish credibility and that means deploying code and script that works.

Going forward, they can work on their feature schedule, overcoming problems and then implementing and deploying those features in future years, only when they work.

If this is not enough, 2K has already set precedent with MyPlayer - online and offline being tied together with a common name but entirely different experiences between the two.

All I'm saying is that the naming of the mode was entirely misleading and unnecessary.
We disagree.

Again, naming convention aside, the majority of us that hooped regardless of the broken 2k15 OLs with work arounds now have more tools to work with than last year because of what you may call "complaining", and yet we call "constructive criticism." Hell....didn't Simballer himself ask for our feedback with regards to the very mode that he detailed in the blog? ... That shouldn't preclude us from providing feedback that offline heads have given and thus culminated in them getting the motherlode that OA heads erroneously anticipated due to the orwellian double speak of naming a mode "myleague online" when it has little resemblance to the more robust "myleague offline."
You chose words that have charged emotional triggers associated with them. Orwellian and double-speak have a very negative connotation implying intentional lying.

Reading this blog, I saw more plain-speaking and almost borderline frank discussion from Simmballer that I immediately thought of the suits chewing his butt out ... I'm surprised there hasn't been some walk-back put out on Twitter or Facebook by LD2K or Ronnie to cover their butt.

What should be the takeaway is: The goal of Simmballer's team is to bring the off-line experience to the online community. They are not there yet but they are providing you with the biggest roadmap they can possibly use to show you where they want to accomplish.

Once the game is released and you have had time to digest everything maybe you can start a thread like 23 linked earlier which the offliners consolidated their criticisms, suggestions and wishes. My expectations, based on the last few years of threads that all of this will be scattered everywhere and anywhere, even in threads dealing exclusively with other things.

This is absolutely amazing! Absolutely amazing! They did all of this in one development cycle. Wow! Kudos to the team and I can't wait for September 25th to arrive. In fact, I'm going to start searching for the game early tonight.

And I cannot wait to move the Indiana Pacers to Louisville.
Wait what? No pro team in indiana? Thats like basketball blasphemy. Take the 76'ers or somthing their fans wont mind

For sure! What would be cool is if you could share this stuff too! Maybe that's in maybe it's not but I know there's way more innovative and creative people than me out there that would get the uniforms, courts, etc looking perfect! I hope these can be shared somehow in 2k share?! :-)

Lol 2k showing off the accurate Sonics court in that Pro Am video didn't help, I want to re-create the 1996 Sonics court though.

I think we are getting tired of being told to wait til next year. We had a huge thread upset about the status of OL last year. http://www.operationsports.com/forum...-bad-ugly.html We had an even bigger thread the year before when the leagues were an absolute joke. Intentional or not, naming the mode online my league has certain expectations that it is somewhat similar to it's counterpart. The ability to add custom draft class, have a normal offseason is a huge part of My League.

I think the OL/OA community has been waiting 3 years to finally play an online franchise type mode. 2K used the word "stability" to describe their efforts last year and what they gave us was a mode where stats nor games registered. I can't believe they used that word again to be honest.

The 2K online league community has some of the most hardcore guys dating back to 2k8. It just sucks to see other games excel in the online league world when 2K used to be at the top.

Most likely this will frustration will wear off and diehard lgs will make it work, but I think we are tired of relying on spreadsheets to maintain a franchise in 2016.

If what your wanting is still missing consider how upset the franchise guys were
a short few years ago. 2k doesn't care, it's all about the money etc etc.

Some things simply take more time. If your favorite mode is the one left out I
understand the frustration but just look at the pattern of others who felt the same.

Also just a side note. Anything you do offline that you want to do online has the
added complexity of keeping up to 30 machines in sync. Think about what that
means in terms of bugs, divergences, coding etc.

Also consider that next gen was a new game on new engine.(Copy paste not good idea)

So you can't just copy a feature and put it online. Again this ain't my mode but
I watched these guys work their asses off and the whole time they had me
and others pleading the case of the online league guys. They literally gave you
everything they had this year. As SImballer said they wanted it to actually work.

Speaking of work I have more to do myself. Carry on gents.
Well said! What that team did was amazing! The write up was amazing! I'm perfectly fine with everything added and my number 1 mode is online leagues! I guess as I get older I'm trying to learn to be more patient and I can see the future ahead and I know what we all want is coming. I think everyone wants 2k20 in 2k16. There just isn't enough hours in a day or year to do that so I'm ecstatic with what's been done for 16! Great job guys! Can't wait for this game! I love the transparency and honesty in the blog as well. 1 question I do have and many have asked can we change and save playbooks in online leagues. If in I think it should be said as that will put out a lot of fires.

All that being said my impatient side can't wait for your blog!

Most teams, ranging from the Lakers to the Kings, moved without any shenanigans. With controversy but not deceit and lies. The most analogous sport team move I can think of is the Baltimore Colts moving to Indianapolis.

Just like there was an open wound in the NFL until Baltimore was made right, so will there be a wound in the NBA until the Sonics are restored. The only redeeming fact for the Sonic wound is that Seattle was able to keep their team's name, something not even Baltimore was able to do.

I was really hyped about online leagues for 2k16 but I got to say this no offseason business is pretty damn disappointing. It's great that they have fantasy draft but I used to love planning for multiple seasons. If I didn't get a top draft pick , then I would plan for the future by picking good young team with potential as well as having cap space flexibility to pick up a superstar or two in free agency.

Like others have said, no offseason is going to be a disadvantage for the bad teams. It will also make life difficult for new players joining leagues after the draft. They have no offseason to look forward to improve their team.

# 352 DMTS @ 08/19/15 10:21 PM
Will star players (think Kevin love) ever not be untouchable?

And do we get to choose what color shirts will be worn for playoff games? I know this is a little specific but I'm just wondering.

I understand what you are saying but I do not think you are looking at the bigger picture.

  1. Simballer's team had no control over online leagues until this year's cycle.
  2. This blog is very different in both what is being said and what is not being said than at any time in the past 5 years.
If there us no follow-thru in the next 3 years, then have-at-it. By this time we all should be able to see if Simballer and his "crew" can deliver on his vision.

View it this way: the online community got a complete new internal development schedule and pipeline put into place. This is year one of this implementation. Let's see what happens before going any further.

If someone wants to lie and say they never saw it then here it is. Probably the most liked post in OS history

http://www.operationsports.com/forum...ersion-me.html

And guess what, it didn't happen all in year 1 and people still didn't continue to complain and gripe and act like 2k took their grandmother to the woodshed
Saw it a while ago but in lights of all these negativity, I just want to point out that posts like this should remind us why sports heads like us come to Operation Sports. I can't praise this website enough for what it has done for the sports gaming community.

Don't get me started! Everything about that was bad from stern, Bennett, Howard Schultz, emails, etc... As a season ticket holder for a few years and with no NBA team here for however many it's been it's been brutal as you know (looks like your from here) as a huge basketball fan especially with the huskies being down the last few years as well.

So, let's bring the sonics back, bring back the old logo, court, uni's from 93 and lure Nate McMillan from Indiana to take the job! Question is who to relocate? I almost don't want to relocate the thunder as what a rivalry that could be and they are tainted. Maybe I'll pretend the Kings left or foresee the Bucks potentially leaving? Whatever the case it will be cool to bring back the sonics! And how cool is the changing of divisions option?! I know you could kind of workaround and do this before but want to see how that works too...

I get the bigger picture and I'm sure in 3 years Online My League will be nuts. 3 years is a long time though, especially when we just waited 3 years. This news is fresh, I think people were just expecting something more in terms of a franchise mode. People like myself were really bummed that an online type mode didn't make the cut again. The last time we had a somewhat working online league mode was last gen. Think about that though, in the meantime 2K has introduced the park, my player, my team, my lg, my gm and now even a crew type mode.

So yea in 3 years it will be crazy good, I'm just personally tired of being told to put it in a forum or a wishlist for next year and it not coming thru. The Online league community will find a way to make it work but workarounds shouldn't be necessary.

Big picture is you have to start somewhere, but I feel like we keep restarting.

I knew something had to give. 2K added too much in one cycle. Hopefully League online will finally be upgraded in 2k17.
Exactly what Im thinking. As an online franchise guy, this news sucks. Im happy for the offline guys but this is awful. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RE IMPLEMENT A MODE YOU JUST DECIDED TO WIPE OUT TWO YEARS AGO?

Concerning dornas...can we have ads rotate with different ads?

I'm hoping we can finally have real ads for quick games.
