Madden NFL 16 News Post

Madden patch 1.09 is available now with some pretty big changes to the core gameplay experience. The Madden team discussed the patch on a Twitch stream today, here are some highlights:

  • A fix is in to prevent multiple nano-blitzes using the B-Gap. The RG will now always look inside to outside for blocking assignments.
  • The 'playcalling/pause' freeze is fixed (where you lose input data and have to dashboard).
  • Untimed downs will occur at the right times (this also fixes the FG Block glitch).
  • A rare bug where QB sacks were creating a stopped clock has been fixed.
  • User QBs will now get less of an accuracy penalty on All Madden difficulty level.
  • Patch notes also mention general stability improvements (aka less freezes).
Be sure to play a few games and let us know what you think of the changes in the space below!

I've tried this. Doesn't work. Online CFMis where you'll get some variety with weather—rain, snow, cold. However, it still has odd quirks.

Temperature in northern climates behaves oddly. Generally, temperatures are pretty realistic throughout much of the season. However, if it's prior to week 16, a sunny game will be above 32 degrees. You'll often see sunny games at 34 degrees with fans wearing shorts and t-shirts. You can still see snow games at this point though. Week 16 and after (in non-snow games), the temperature can go below 32 and fans will wear cold weather stuff and you'll see player breath.

Simply put, they need to tune the threshold for cold weather conditions because right now it's only 32 and below. Oh, and fix weather for offline CFM altogether.

...So i just realized all this time i picked an offline CFM, and this is after i posted it was an online one oops. That explains why i'm not seeing things right. Well damn. Still online ones sound unsatisfying too though.

I agree with those wanting Live Weather! Also, patching a couple other things like the Defensive AI, equipment, etc. would be nice.

Bummer about no changes in weather.

I have played 3 full seasons of offline CFM and its sunny every game. I have never had a rain game. One time I saw breath in late December in Minnesota. I got excited once because coming out of the intro it said heavy snow for the game and then it was perfectly sunny with no snow...

I really don't know what the key is but, we are in year four of our Online CFM and the AFC conference Championship had snow. The game was at Baltimore. We have had other snow games too.

A few rain games. It's not been as much as real life but, we get weather games

Yeah, it's offline that doesn't really work at all.

Also, can confirm weather wasn't touched. Started an offline CFM with Buffalo, simmed to week 13 at home. Shorts and short sleeves on camera/media people and sideline personnel. Shorts and sun visors in the stands.

They didn't cover everything I wanted but, I'm happy with the Nano blitz fix. The scrape blitzing was just stupid. The way the RG would just stand there and watch a player run right by him and he would block no one.

Also the QB accuracy issue is good. I wish they would make accuracy more realistic but, it was weird how a 95 accuracy QB would just throw it 10 feet over a receiver on a short pass out of the blue. usually right to a safety for an int.

Also Rex said, yet again, the awareness has no affect on a user QB. Not sure how many times Devs have to say this before we believe it. lol

Can't get to the game until later.

Could someone actually "play" the game and give some feedback on any differences they see during gameplay? (mainly in CFM)

One thing to note is that there is a difference in gameplay (and other mode mechanisms) in CFM between using the default 75 man roster and any roster loaded into the mode.

So any observation should note to help distinguish why some things are/are not being seen after the update.

Look forward to reading the feedback.

Can someone link or point me in the direction of the full patch notes?

Second this......surely the OP doesn't contain all of the fixes right? If so, this patch is rather underwhelming

I just had another rain game(offline cfm) yesterday. Keep in mind, this was my CFM 32 team control, I started back when the game released, original 75 man rosters. I'm also playing EVERY game(minus the preseason) 256 reg. Season games + playoffs. I'm currently down to 2 games left in week 9 and I see at least 1 or 2 rain games every week. It may be just the simple fact that I'm playing every game on the schedule. Looking forward to seeing if I get some snow games coming up in the weeks to come.

I have not tired that but I like playing with AC so you get real life time of position numbers and I have a felling that does nothing because last year I heard so many thing about how if you do this or that it fixes the CPU holding onto the ball for ever and I tried ever thing and saw no difference at all. So I have a felling this is like that where there really is no way to fix is. Plus all you get in CFM is sun any way so in less I just play quick games all the time I am not going to see rain or snow any way.

Wow playing ever game in the whole season that is nuts that is going to take you up in till like madden 17 to finish a season lol. How do you decide what team you are going to play as and what team the CPU is going to be when you play a game?

DB strike 1 ever get patched? I have a friend who abuses this defense. I can't run or pass against him.

My last 3 games in my online CFM (SOS, ND's league) went snow, snow, rain. All at home with Green Bay.

These, of course, were pre-patch.

I'm trying to duplicate what happened irl. So I will use the team that won irl. Now it doesn't always mean I win, which im finding is the biggest challenge and since finalizing my sliders I've been hovering just above .500 lol.
What I like about it is, getting to use or play against all the teams in the league. Keeps it refreshing and yes it will probably take up until M17 to get through lol.
Also, I've been able to nail down my sliders better than ever before.
I've actually been able to get a true user vs cpu avg. In All the areas of gameplay (rushing, passing, sacks, brk tak, ints, penalties).

I look at it this way, instead of playing w/ 1 or 2 teams for multiple seasons and having to keep restarting my cfm, do to getting bored w/ madden generated players and other reasons guys keep restarting CFMs, Im just aiming to get 1 solid season and attempting to duplicate the 2015-16 season. I'm just 2 games away from starting my week 10 games, so yeah its been alot of games lol.

Did I really just scroll through 4 pages of people complaining about weather?!! I'd rather they focus their attention to gameplay any day.

I don't think there will be any more game play patches or any patches for 16.

Game play is good this year.
