Griffey goes deep, ties opening day record.

Ken Griffey Jr. led off the inning with a home run. On a 2-2 pitch from Liriano, Griffey blasted a shot to right field. It was Griffey's eighth career Opening Day home run, tying him with Hall of Famer Frank Robinson for the all-time high.

This also gives him 612 home runs for his career, trailing Willie Mays by 48, who is currently 4th all-time. Babe Ruth sits out of reach at 714.

But, if Griffey were to play a few more years, would does he have enough gas left in the tank to take over Mays for the 4th spot?

I hope he does it, it would be a nice reward for a great guy and, while it is hard to say nowadays, a clean player.

It was pretty cool seeing him play in a Mariners uni again.

Good for him. If not for an injury-plagued career, he would be getting the all-time HR record, and we wouldn't ever mention Barry and his asterisks****
