Michael Smith, ESPN.com: What qualifies you for a job of this magnitude? Especially since you have never been a head coach on any level?
Coach Griffin: I'm glad you brought that up because it has been misreported on numerous occassions that I have no head coaching experience. That is simply not true. I was a head baseball coach and a head basketball coach in Parks & Rec leagues while in college. As for this challenge I feel that I am energetic and knowledgeable of the game. I have to learn the ins and outs of the league, but I feel I can get these players to play for me and help them reach their athletic potential.
Woody Paige, Denver Post & ESPN: You mentioned that you feet behind. What is your plan to catch up?
Coach Griffin: I believe that I am going to go with all the assistants that are here for at least this year. We are going to run the same offense although we will implement a more physical defense patterned after the Jaguars defense. Free agency & the draft are going to be big parts of building up the talent on the team. No one currently on the roster is safe from being moved based on ability or salary. We have to decrease the talent gap between us & the San Diego Chargers.
Mike Florio, ProFootballTalk.com: What are your expectations for the upcoming season?
Coach Griffin: I expect to win the AFC West. We have to become a more disciplined team, but I feel that we can win the division with some breaks. Ladies & gentlemen. Thank you for your time, but I need to meet with my coaches and discuss our plan. Free Agency is a little more than two weeks away & the draft is less than 3 months. I suspect that this won't be the last time we talk. Have a great day.

Shanahan Resigns, Broncos hire complete unknown
Denver (AP) -- In a move that has been brewing for weeks, Head Coach Mike Shanahan officially resigned from the Denver Broncos. However, in a complete stunner the team hired 28 year-old high school assistant Jason Griffin to assume control of the Broncos not only as the head coach, but with significant power in terms of player personnel. Griffin who flew in late last night will hold a press conference later today. Many fans are confused about the hiring with established coaches like Bill Cowher available. Long time season ticket holder John Phillips said, "Never heard of the guy and I don't endorse it. Coach has to win quickly or it can get ugly around here." The press conference can be seen locally on all 3 major networks or on the NFL network at 2 pm.

Mark Schlereth: I believe the crack in the relationship between Mike & Pat began when Pat approached Mike about giving up his position as the teams general manager. The implication in Mike's mind was that he wasn't a great evaluator of talent, but in Pat's defense i believe the results back Pat up. Denver's roster is not stacked with talent.
Trey: In a stunning development the Broncos have just released a statement that they have hired Jason Griffin a high school assistant football coach from Jacksonville, Florida. Griffin is considered to be a rising star, but to turn your franchise over to a 28 year-old who has never been a head coach screams potential disaster. We will keep an eye on the situation.
