When you look across the Madden NFL 25 one thing becomes abundantly clear, the NFC features the best and deepest array of football teams on planet earth.
At least, when you look at the team overall ratings that's what you find. Every division in the NFC is tougher on an average per team rating than in the AFC.
Every...single...one.
Taking into account the average team overall rankings ... Read More

I hate writing this blog because I know some will take it the wrong way.
"The game isn't even out yet and you are already talking about a patch?!"
I think this year's Madden is a few fixes away from true greatness on the field. As it stands from what I've played and saw, Madden NFL 25 is overpowered towards the offenses. The passing game is ridiculously automatic and the running game is automatic ... Read More

Yesterday, we got a date.
November 15, 2013 is when the PlayStation 4 will launch in North America.
I would suspect the XBox One will launch in a similar timeframe, which means we are just a couple of months now from the launch of a new generation of consoles and gaming experiences. With that in mind, and to assist you in your buying decisions on launch day -- I'm going to run a periodic power poll ... Read More

In case you haven't read it, three of the most lucrative college conferences are ending their licensing deals with EA Sports.
Today's news sounds worse than it is, as conferences (like the NCAA) have only a small role within the game. However, unlike when the NCAA removed itself from the game there are tangible items which will now be missing within the game as conferences play a much bigger role in ... Read More

After playing both games and the skill trainers within Madden NFL 25, I can honestly say the game is on track to be good again this year. Madden 25 already plays one of the best brands of EA Football to date, but only time will tell if it's amongst the best. Here are some pros and cons:
Pros:
- Game feels really good when playing it.
- Option plays are executed as well as NCAA.
- Clear improvements in Infinity Engine

One of the things I've always thought would add a new layer to recruiting and team management, and it would be an easily implemented one -- is the presence of academics in the process.
How many other simple and easy to implement features would add as much as true academics into the game?
Consider this: You'd suddenly have to recruit to your school based on your academic standards. A Stanford or Notre ... Read More

Johnny Football's season is in trouble.
Not just a little trouble, but the type of trouble that leads to a 30-on-30 special from ESPN years later.
If reports from ESPN are to be believed, Manziel was paid $7500 in cash for autographs he signed while in a hotel room in New Haven, CT.
Even more troubling, Manziel has been linked to brokers from three different cities: Ft. ... Read More

NCAA Football 14 moved the series ahead in many ways, but perhaps the most important thing it has done was completely revamp the recruiting and offseason.
While there are some that do feel differently, I am really enjoying the new take on recruiting in NCAA Football -- so much so that I think it might be my favorite part of the new game.
Simplicity is Beauty
One of the biggest selling

When the news hit yesterday that the NCAA and EA Sports have ended their relationship, I had a mild panick attack.
And don't you be lying, you did too.
But, after some contemplation and research, it does seem that while the NCAA won't be involved in EA's future College Football game -- that's about the only thing that should be missing from the future.
The NCAA pulling its name and ... Read More

Typically, the era of game patches for console games has worked out for consumers with large issues being fixed in a timely manner and everyone winning with a better product at the end of the day.
However, for customers of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 -- not only have fans of the series been left with a worse game than when they bought it after a patch this past Spring, but they also see no hope in sight of a ... Read More

When I downloaded the early release of NCAA Football 14 this year, I was quite a bit more excited than usual about playing this year's game thanks to the demo which left me enthusiastic about this year's title.
However, the folks at EA had a cruel trick planned for me: this wasn't the same NCAA I'm used to, and if you make the same mistakes I did when you pick up your copy tomorrow, you'll find that truth out

Reason #1 to play in the Big XII: Beating Texas.
The Big XII is a different sort of animal these days.
The heyday of the first 'superconference' with the best of the old SWC combined with the old Big 8 is now over, with what remains being a hodgepodge of schools with a common interest of trying to make a bit of cash.
Most believe the Big XII is still one of the best football conferences in the land,

Call me a sucker for enjoying a company take on a tone of humbleness and passion -- but the tone Sean O'Brien had struck me as a great response to the series' past and to give hope for NBA LIve's future.
It's too early to declare Live will be anything near good, much less great -- but we've heard several times how O'Brien was extremely skeptical of EA's basketball plans before jumping aboard:

Ever since the Ed O'Bannon/Sam Keller lawsuit was introduced, there has been much discussion amongst sports gamers as to the eventual fate of NCAA Football. Theories ranging from whether the series will be outright cancelled to completely generic rosters appearing in the game have been floated by consumers.
A month ago, EA did something strange: they admitted via a sponsored study they have used at least some college likenesses in their game. ... Read More

Last year, I went after NCAA Football 13 for so many reasons. Using tech that was going to be antiquated in just a month's time last July, we received a college football gaming experience that was stale, uninspired, and a little too much like its predecessor. Many were saying the future of the NCAA series was in question with such a poor effort
The NCAA team was dealt a bad hand last season, no doubt. This year it ... Read More
