Jimmy Butler has certainly arrived as one of the best two-way players in the NBA -- but there have been a lot of reports of problems in the locker room with Butler in Chicago.

This trouble has even prompted various rumors that Butler could end up traded away in some sort of a blockbuster deal -- but it seems that Chicago isn't quite interested in dealing Butler.

Instead it looks like they are sending Butler to represent the franchise at the NBA Draft Lottery:

Quote:
"In a sign of commitment not present at management's season-ending postmortem, the Bulls have asked their two-time All-Star to represent the franchise on the dais at the May 17 NBA draft lottery, sources said.

Sending Butler to New York as the public face of the franchise seemingly would make any deal even more of a non-starter."

At a post-season presser, Bulls GM Gar Forman did say "we have to explore all options" when he was directly asked about Butler being the face of the franchise moving forward.

What do you think? Is there a trade that would even make sense for the Bulls to get rid of Butler?

We haven't heard much from EA as to what to expect from NBA Live this upcoming season and it seems that was for a good reason. EA, in their quarterly results report this afternoon, had NBA Live slated as a title which won't be arriving until 2017, or Q4 in their fiscal calendar.

It appears that EA is probably giving live an extra 4-6 months of development time (and a different release window) to try to stir up interest and improve the franchise's quality.

Live's recent reboot attempt hasn't been very successful, with sales lagging and quality only just in this last edition beginning to appreciably improve. For the series to be competitive, it appears EA has decided that will mean extra development time and a different window for release.

The release of NBA Live in 2017 will probably coincide with either the start of next year's playoffs or the All-Star game. It's doubtful you'll see it before the latter event for sure.

What do you think of the news? Is this going to be a good thing for NBA Live or is it a desperate last ditch effort in your mind?

Steph Curry had a heck of a night last night.

Not only did he score the most points in an OT effort ever (17), but he also single handedly took a playoff game over and delivered a big W for Golden State -- putting the Warriors up three games to one and certainly clinching their ticket onwards.

Quote:
"Perhaps the best way summarize Curry's performance on Monday is with this stat: Curry missed his first nine 3-pointers and later scored 17 points in overtime -- an NBA record."

Curry can catch fire like few players in the history of the game, and when he does -- it almost seems like he may actually encapsulate what it may look like to see a player with skills beyond what we typically see.

With that in mind, are Curry's attributes (especially his offensive attributes) properly captured in NBA 2K16? Do you think that Curry should be considered for something higher than a 99 overall rating?

Sound off in the comments!

The Angels aren't off to a great start -- now thanks to news that Garrett Richards needs Tommy John surgery -- the news has just gotten worse.

The Angels rotation really isn't anything near what it could have been, should have been, or might have been. And to top that off, the lineup which looked so formidable for years to come just a couple of short years ago looks downright average now.

Quote:
"In other words: A team projected as mediocre is now 13-15 and looking worse, and that's with Mike Trout tearing things up with a .317/.400/.596 line. Did we mention the Angels have what is universally regarded as the worst farm system in the game? Which is why Dave Cameron of FanGraphs wrote this:

And that reality prompts the obvious question: is it time to think about trading Mike Trout?

It may be unthinkable, but David Schoenfield at ESPN.com is suggesting the Angels should indeed think about trading Mike Trout.

Thanks to a horribly lackluster farm system, a bunch of heavy contracts for players not producing, and simply because the team just isn't that good: it may just be time for the whole experiment in Anaheim to be thrown to the wind.

But what do you think? Should the Angels look to trade Mike Trout and begin rebuilding the whole project? Sound off in the comments!

With Madden NFL 17 still months away, and the NFL offseason continuing to churn forward -- there is still a chance some pretty huge impact players could find themselves playing for a different franchise by the time the new season dawns on us.

ESPN recently published an article with eight players which could find themselves with a new uniform in 2016...

Quote:
"OK, so as it turns out, just about every one of the big-name players who were in line for a possible draft-day trade stayed put. That's disappointing. It's also foolish to think that the end of the draft also will bring an end to the trade rumors. The market may have changed as teams filled some of their needs, but there are still cranky players around the league who would be better off in new locales. Somebody like Evan Mathis, who was cut by the Eagles last June before eventually signing with the Broncos, would be a classic example of how there's still player movement to come around the league.

The players ESPN has pegged to possibly be targets to move in the coming months?
  1. Sam Bradford, QB, Eagles
  2. Colin Kaepernick, QB, 49ers
  3. Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, Free Agent (ahem Jets)
  4. Muhammad Wilkerson, DE, Jets
  5. Mike Glennon, QB, Buccaneers
  6. Nick Foles, QB, Rams
  7. Eugene Monroe, OT, Ravens,
  8. Luke Joeckel, OT, Jaguars
What do you think? Are any of these players going to be on new teams in Madden NFL 17?

The first round of the NFL Draft is tonight, and there's a lot to keep an eye on if you are an NFL fan. For fans of Madden, tonight is the beginning of seeing which teams are going to go from an afterthought to a must play.

I mean, there was that weird period during Johnny Football's rookie season -- may his career forever rest in pieces -- the Browns were a hot thing online.

Tonight, 32 picks will be made which will shape the future of entire franchises. Two in particular, Los Angeles and Philadelphia, are making huge bets on a starting QB of the future. In Philly's case, they may lose their current starter over the whole thing.

So what do you want your team to do tonight? Is there a pick you'd really like to see made? What pick do you think could change how we see teams in Madden? Sound off in the comments!

Perhaps unlike any other sport, roster management is a huge deal in baseball. From managing how and when to add players to the disabled list, to managing minor leagues, to simply putting together a coherent 25-man roster for the bulk of the season -- roster management is front and center when it comes to baseball.

Managing an MLB Franchise's roster means you have to constantly be monitoring multiple levels of baseball and dozens of players to make sure your roster is evolving as it should. This usually involves a delicate dance of moving players up and down the minors as well as carefully managing your 40 man roster.

If you aren't careful, you can easily find that your roster has horrible imbalances with too many of any one position on your 40 man roster. This creates an uncomfortable position of having to move players sometimes completely out of your franchise just to have a functional roster -- especially if injuries become prevalent in your franchise at a certain position.

With that in mind, what are some of the things you do to keep your roster coherent, balanced, and ready for anything? What are some roster building tips you'd like to share on how to keep things in check?

Sam Bradford is not happy about the Eagles trading away several future draft picks to likely a acquire a QB in the second pick of the draft -- and he's now demanding a trade.

Let's first sit back and appreciate how the last month of movement from Philadelphia has been somewhat self-destructive over the short term -- sacrificing both several draft picks along with now possibly your immediate starting QB to draft a new QB of the future.

Bradford, as you may know, signed a 2-year, $36 million extension earlier this offseason. Now, in demanding a trade, he's opened up the possibility a couple of suitors could sweep in and try to nab him.

The contenders are:

Denver - This is obvious isn't it? The team is built to win a championship now, and Bradford would be a nice short term answer as the franchise tries to figure out the future. Bradford's contract doesn't fit with Denver's finances and would require some restructuring but this is hardly undoable.

New York Jets - Bradford could be a fit in NY as well with Fitzpatrick not signed yet. Again, Bradford may have to take a hit on finances here -- but the Jets probably would see Bradford as an upgrade.

Cleveland - I mean, why not? You need a QB in Cleveland, they have the finances, and the Browns have a lot of draft choices. Bradford wouldn't thrive here at all, this would be another St. Louis type of situation, but it'd make sense for Cleveland.

Philadelphia - No, Philly isn't going to trade with itself for Bradford, but let's be real: Bradford probably ends up in Philly as the tutor/veteran teacher for the upcoming rookie QB and then leaves in a couple of years as the new QB takes the reigns. From Bradford's standpoint this isn't the greatest situation but its a position and a salary. And oftentimes, the simplest explanation is the most likely.

What do you think? Which team would you like to see Bradford land on for next year's Madden?

Just how good is Jake Arrieta?

Check out these stats from ESPN.com:

Quote:
"With his no-hitter on Thursday, Jake Arrieta is now 15-0 with a 0.65 ERA in his past 17 starts. He’s allowed 61 hits in 125 1/3 innings pitched. Opponents are hitting .143 against him."

Not only is Arrieta dominating the mound in the real game -- he's actually doing so by putting up numbers which would make many playing a Road To The Show career pause for a second and ask, "Should I bump up the difficulty?"

Clayton Kershaw is rated higher than Arrieta at a 99 overall. Max Scherzer and Zack Greinke are both alongside Arrieta at 95 overall.

As hot as Arrieta is though, it makes you wonder should he actually be rated higher? Perhaps all the way to a 99 overall?

What do you think? Should Arrieta get an upgrade? Have you ever gone on a streak quite like Arrieta's over his past 17 starts?

This one didn't work out so well for Philly.

Let's face it, when it comes to big draft trades -- both Philadelphia and Los Angeles (I can say that now right?) both made historically huge trade deals.

And really, when you get down to it, both Cleveland and Tennessee did too.

But would you have taken the deal? ESPN's Bill Barnwall writes that he is a bit skeptical on the part of the Eagles:

Quote:
"This is an extensive haul for the Browns, roughly equivalent to what the Titans received for the first overall selection after accounting for the difference in value between the first and second picks. Philadelphia gets the a 2017 fourth-round pick back with the second overall pick this year, and sends Cleveland the eighth, 77th and 100th picks in this year's draft, plus a 2017 first-round pick and a 2018 second-rounder.

If we value those selections as the middle pick in each round, which seems fair given that the Eagles don't seem to be a particularly dominant or particularly troubled franchise, Cleveland's picked up an enormous return for its pick."

Let's face it, Cleveland (and Tennessee) have a foundation of draft picks to build and trade from which will yield lots of positional upgrades for the next several years. That's a good foundation for winning a championship. On the other hand, both Philadelphia and Los Angeles seem to be betting a lot on a QB of the future.

I guess long term we may find out which is more important.

Such a huge pair of moves technically aren't possible in Madden -- something I'd like to think will be made possible given the headline grabbing nature of both deals made this offseason (re: please do this EA!) -- but if presented with such a move, would you take it if you were Cleveland or Tennessee?

What about the other way around, would you give up so many picks to get one?

There may or may not be an EA Sports UFC Cover Curse -- but what I do know is that EA Sports UFC 2 lost half of its cover star-power when Conor McGregor decided to shock the world and retire yesterday.

Quote:
"UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor will not fight Nate Diaz at UFC 200 on July 9 in Las Vegas. Whether he will fight again period remains a question.

UFC president Dana White announced Tuesday night on SportsCenter that the promotion has pulled McGregor from the main event at UFC 200, due to the Irishman's unwillingness to fly to Las Vegas and participate in mandatory promotional activities."

This obviously comes as a shock -- and as of yet there has been no reasoning for McGregor's departure from UFC.

EA Sports UFC 2 obviously is now down a cover athlete, and more importantly MMA is down a pretty big star heading into a huge UFC event on July 9, 2016. There are a couple of interesting questions on whether EA releases a new edition of the game with a new cover and if there's any possibility that McGregor could be removed from the game. The latter seems unlikely, but its not impossible -- especially if there's really bad blood between UFC/McGregor.

What do you think? Is McGregor's sudden retirement a problem for EA at all? Will there be problems for the UFC?

Update:
In a statement on Facebook, it appears McGregor says he's not retired after all (4/21).

The Broncos starting QB position is stealing most of the headlines this offseason, but it must be stated the Jets probably won't have a solid idea of who their starting QB is going to be by draft time.

Right now the Jets are down to a pair of options: Geno Smith/Bryce Petty or trying to sign Ryan Fitzpatrick to a new deal -- which has proved troublesome.

Quote:
"Lost in the kerfuffle of the Denver Broncos' quarterback mess is that we've gotten to tax day and the New York Jets still don't have a quarterback either.

Perhaps it's that we all think that eventually Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Jets will find some kind of middle ground and come to a deal, but there hasn't been a Broncos level of public worry about who will start for the Jets.

Fitzpatrick is unsigned, the very little information that has leaked out has indicated the sides aren't close, and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said Monday there's no deal expected by the draft. That seems clear, given how little movement there has seemingly been, but it is putting the Jets in a rough spot."

Its true that most expect the Jets and Fitzpatrick to come to a deal -- but at what cost to the future of the franchise? Will the Jets panic and overpay? Will they settle for Geno Smith?

What would you do if you were the GM faced with a similar situation in Madden?
