With the NBA Draft in the rear-view mirror and NBA Summer League action now in full swing, it seems like a good time to start talking about rookie ratings in next year's NBA titles. We plan on doling out some of these predictions over a period of time, but since many people called the 2010 NBA Draft a "five-player Draft," it only seems right to start with the top five picks.Read More - NBA Draft Analysis: Top Five Picks

When you see the number 12, what do you think of? A dozen eggs? The months of a year? Well, how about my first 12 possessions in a Human vs. CPU game of Backbreaker: fumble, fumble, fumble, interception, interception, field goal, interception, interception, interception, interception, fumble and interception.
Simply put, Backbreaker has turned a sports gamer’s nightmare into a reality by failing to live up to its hype.

I did not go into UFC Undisputed 2010 with over-the-moon expectations. That does not mean I expected the game to be bad or anything like that, I was simply trying not to not get caught up in the pre-release hype train. I was trying to stay neutral. Nevertheless, I also did not think I would stop playing the game within the first couple weeks.
The developers have added more to this year's title to make up for the lack of depth in some areas. Still, generally speaking, fighting games do not tend to have too much depth beyond the gameplay. You fight, fight some more, and you move up the ladder until you cannot go anywhere else. That being said, the developers did successfully add depth to at least one area: multiplayer.

When UFC Undisputed 2009 was released last year, MMA fans were thrilled to have the opportunity to fight as their favorite mixed martial artists.
According to an ESPN interview with UFC producer Neven Dravinski, the game outsold both NBA games combined as well as the MLB games. In simpler words, the game was a hit.
However, the popularity of the game did not absolve it from criticism. The fun within the game soon went away for many gamers due to the lack of depth in the game. Other complaints involved the career mode feeling repetitive, and unless you had a friend to play with, the matches quickly felt the same as the last one. But with UFC Undisputed 2010 coming out at the end of the month, fans are about to get a fresh dose of UFC action (and at least have a demo now to play in the interim).

People always enjoy knocking a game. They love complaining about it, they love criticizing it, and they love giving their opinion on it (OS is in the midst of an ongoing feature like this right now). But do people praise games often enough? It never seems to be what should stay the same but rather what should change. Regardless, here is what should not change in NBA 2K11.

Tony Hawk is about to take you for a ride, literally.Tony Hawk RIDE is the latest addition to the long-running Tony Hawk skateboarding series, but this time you are putting the controller away. RIDE’s biggest marketing point is its skateboard controller. The board has the same dimensions as any typical deck you would see in your local Zumiez and is actually quite comfortable. Too bad comfort does not cover up a terrible game.

From "razzle-dazzle" to Clark Kellog’s dry voice, basketball gaming is about to go full circle. With the recent announcement of EA Sports’ NBA Jam, the future of basketball gaming is finally coming to a dead end. I am a huge fan of the original NBA Jam, and possibly more excited than anyone else to see the new Wii title, but at the same time I am disappointed in what basketball gaming is coming to.
NBA 2K10 and NBA Live 10 both faced lofty expectations (yes, the expectations for both games were on different levels), but surprisingly, Live was the only one to meet them in my mind. NBA 2K9 was a fantastic game. It made major improvements upon its predecessor, and the only real problem I had with it was the fact that the Seattle SuperSonics were no longer a team. So of course 2K10 would be way better right? Well, not quite. While it was still a good game, some nagging problems and a slow patch process hampered my enjoyment with the game -- but that's not really the point here.

1. Fix My PlayerThe My Player mode had a lot of momentum before NBA 2K10 was released. After purchasing the NBA 2K10 Draft Combine and playing that over and over again, it was a letdown when all of that build up went away when I booted up NBA 2K10.
My Player mode had the potential, but a bunch of bugs ruined any chance it had to be truly successful. Obviously, some of the bugs were fixed in the patches but there is still much to work on.

For five years, some Madden players have annually dished out $60 to play a game they wish was simply NFL 2K5 with improved graphics. Since Electronic Arts obtained the exclusive rights to make an NFL-licensed video game, there have been several attempts by various companies to re-create a football experience sans the NFL label. We have seen new versions of the Blitz franchise as well as a new Tecmo Bowl game, but only one game, All-Pro Football 2K8, has even come close to tapping into what most gamers are looking for. In August 2007, some were filled with hope when another football game, Backbreaker, came to the forefront. While Backbreaker started off as a nameless tech demo, NaturalMotion -- a middleware development studio that decided to try out game development -- later decided to build an entire game based on the technology used in the initial tech demo.

Ever since I heard about what that word Reflex actually meant in the title of this game, I have been anticipating it like a kid waiting for Santa Claus to hop down my chimney. For those of you who don’t know, the Reflex in MX vs. ATV Reflex refers to the controls of the game. This year you don’t get to just control your bike like in past MX vs. ATV games, you control your rider as well.Read More - MX vs. ATV Reflex Review
