Madden 24 Classic Roster Thoughts

Alright folks, with all of the Madden 24 hype getting starting, I thought it was a good time to start thinking about what classic roster I would do for M24.

Most of you know my rosters and what to expect out them, I have been making them and sharing with them the community since the option has been available.

For M23 I created 1987. It was an odd year where I only made 1 roster. The only other thing I did was rerate Soundwave's 1995 roster (all credit to Soundwave for creating the roster).

So, I have a ton of different ideas for seasons, but I wanted to know the community's thoughts as well.

Here are some years I have been thinking about.
1975- I did this roster several years back, but it is a fun year and the WFL was alive so that provides an easy way to fill out the teams that did not exist in 1975.

1984- I have never done 84, but what a great year. Marino's amazing season and the big match up with the 49ers in the Super Bowl. The Bears were on the verge of greatness as well. Also, the USFL existed which again makes the other teams easy to handle.

1993- A fun year with lots of greats in the NFL. Elway, Marino, Young, Montana, Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice... the list goes on.

2002- Not a truly epic season for me, but fun to build with. Still, a lot of great players and the Browns made the playoffs. Dominant Buccaneers defense.

2007- The almost perfect season by the Patriots, a close playoff race in the AFC.

Other seasons I am considering:
1978- The Steelers were still super tough and the Super Bowl against the Cowboys was epic. Earl Campbell was running over defenses. Staubach, Bradshaw, Tarkenton, Fouts, Franco Harris...

1985- A season that I love because of the Bears that year. That defense was just soooo good! It is the start of the Kosar era in Cleveland, who came close to upsetting the Dolphins in the playoffs.

1988- An epic Super Bowl; 49ers and Bengals, Tom Landry's last year as the Cowboys coach, Thurman Thomas' rookie season

1999- The Browns are back. I see 99 as a transition year for several teams in the NFL. It was Steve Young's final season, Peyton Manning was quickly becoming amazing, and who can forget the Greatest Show on Turf!

As you can see, there are so many great seasons and I have made rosters for many of them in the past.

So, throw out your ideas or let me know if you like any of the years I mentioned. At this point I simply do not know what year I will go with, just looking for feedback and ideas.

Also, if you have any questions about my rosters, how I make them, ratings, etc... feel free to ask

As a quick reference, i did a 2007 file for ps4 on madden 21. If you have two consoles, it’d be easy to get the names and measurements and equipment. The ratings are a lot like what you use as well.

Very fun season to mess around with. Also that season/era mixes well with the generic playbooks and the era better fits the newer madden engine. Honestly the generic playbooks, especially west coast and balance and run and gun better represent the 2000s than it does now. Itfeels like leftover playbooks from that era.

it wasnt hard to make it look like 2007 as is for 90s and 80s teams with special playbooks and slider tinkering.

2000 is an intriguing season and one I have never done. That defense was amazing, and Dilfer does not get enough respect for his play that year. He was not great by any means, but he made plays when he had to and understood his role that season.

I have a file pretty close to ready for 2007 with all the rosters and everything. I have M21 on NextGen, but I think it has the dual entitlement so I could download it on my PS4 as well.

You are right, it is easier to replicate 2000s NFL in Madden than the 80s and 90s. However, I was pleasantly surprised with how well M23 handled my 87 roster and the 95 roster. The run heavy playbook did a far better job than it has in the past with play calling and truly being run heavy.

I did 1990 for M22. Not saying I won't turn around and do it again. LOL

That was a fun year, especially if you keep it going in franchise mode.
