It's funny, I'm not even ticked. I don't really care, and apathy is much worse than anger.

My gaming time is way down right now with the baseball playoffs (go Phillies!!!) anyway, however in 7-10 days that will be over and I'll be back to gaming more often. Now I don't hate Madden 09, at least not as much as some here, so I guess I will try to play it some along with NCAA and NHL. I have a feeling NHL will wind up taking most of my time.

That said, I'm out for Madden 2010 until at least October and only if reviews are overwhelmingly positive.
In all honesty, what do you expect them to say? It got scrapped. I don't think coming in and explaining why will help anything. It will just stir up the haters who are waiting to jump at a chance to attack the devs for it not being out. If there's a good explaination, it won't matter...people with pick it apart. If there isn't a good explaination, then people will pick it apart. Nothing to be gained. It's not as though Ian's been in hiding or something. He's been on here, just not discussing the moot point of the DLC.

As for Madden 2010, that's probably the best way to go about it. Wait to see if it meets your individual demands (I'd throw in a rental too, to be sure and go from there. My life isn't better or worse because of Madden. I barely played 06-08 (all rentals) and survived just fine. HC lured me into an actual purchase this year (strongly recommend it if you like franchise management simming) but even then I got it used. Hopefully it get's back on track...we'll see.

The demo this year was pointless, as it wasn't long enough, and it sucked me in graphics-wise.
Renting it first is the best advice, as well as reading the initial reviews here.

I would like to know which side it to blame - was it never completed or worked on at all (I don't believe this is the case, btw) or was there an issue on the MS/Sony side that prevented the DLC? An why did it take so long to tell us? I think the latter is the question I would like to see answered the most.

Like I said above, I'm not even upset - just this whole thing leaves a bad taste.

I feel ya. I'd like to know too, to be honest. My point is that many wouldn't be able to maturely react to whatever info is given and there is nothing for Ian or Phill to gain from going over it. Maybe they will eventually though, I dunno.

Actually, I think the forum members have acted pretty maturely, considering the disappointing nature of the DLC news and how it was delivered. The sh*t storm that CB predicted never really materialized.

Certainly nothing like the 'no CPU sliders' thread from August. I guess the biggest difference is back then you had a lot of the people who only visit this site when the game is released and now you have more of the hardcore regulars who post all year long.

And now you go back to that demo where we all questioned why we couldn't play defense, and even though EA reps said they took defense out of the demo because they wanted to do "something different", it's hard not to come to the conclusion that they did it to cover up the fact that the CPU QB's in '09 are all Joe Montana's with Peyton Manning arms that almost never miss.

It's hard to believe that the leaders of the project had no idea that CPU sliders were gone. The only way that could happen is if they don't play their own game. Seriously, how else could they not know? And surely they do play their own game, right? If not, then right there is a core problem with why we've had so many issues. As far as I'm concerned, if you're a project leader of a video game, there should be few if any unknowns about the features and options of the game you're working on, and certainly nothing as major as the absence of CPU sliders...

No, it certainly didn't get as bad as I thought it would. It started that direction a few times, but over the long haul, things stayed pretty civilized. But hey, thats a good thing.
