What gives you the most trouble?

Which pitch do you have the most trouble laying off of? For me its the sinkers and change ups in the dirt. I swing at them ALL THE TIME! I have, however, gotten 100x better at hitting since I started my Road to the Show. I've drawn 12 walks for far this year in about 40 games. Pretty good for me.

By far its the curveball. Even when i'm looking for it and know in the back of my mind that its probably coming in low i STILL swing lol Coming in a very close second is the high fastball.

For me it's the just above the strike zone fastball. Second would be the perfectly middle of the plate curveball that drops out of the strike zone. I used to swing at everything, no matter where it was pitched, but my eye has gotten a lot better on pitches that are off the plate. Just those balls over the plate are what keep me from drawing a realistic amount of walks.

Curveballs with a huge break. I can recognize curveball, but the ones that have tons of break can still way hop up out of the pitcher's hand up. When this happens, I recognize curveball and think it's going to hang, so I swing... underestimating the break.

Changeups get me as well. I have problems getting in a groove against FB/CU pitchers. I'm constantly late on the fastballs because I'm waiting too long to recognize the pitch.

I always swing at curveballs in the dirt, especially with a 2 strikes count.

Re: What gives you the most trouble?

It used to be the big curve in the dirt that would give me the most trouble. But my curve ball recognition has improved drastically. I'm almost to the point where I enjoy facing a guy with a big yakker... lol (Is it just me, or does that sound kind of dirty?) Unless the pitcher is dead on with his curve, I usually end up drawing a good amount of walks.

The pitches that I usually have the most trouble with are perfectly placed fastball, and circle change-ups that have a ton of break.

Me too. I just hate those pitchers. When that curve ball breaks so much, it is really hard to figure out where it will end up. Sometimes I even swing at a fastball above my head thinking it is a curveball with a huge break that will drop right into the zone for a home run.

Re: What gives you the most trouble?

I'm horrible at picking up the curve. I swing way too early. The times I do recognize curve out of the pitcher's hand, I'm usually committed to taking a strike so I end up not swinging.
