RTTS ? for a pitcher

quick question. i started a RTTS made him a starting pitcher. which pitches do you guys find most effective as a strike out pitch? i have a 4 seam fastball, slider, changeup, and 12-6 curveball. i could get the count 0-2 and none of these pitches can strike the guy out very well. any suggestions thanks

On 0-2, throw a 4 seamer high and tight. Like out of the strike zone high. If they didn't chase the 4 seamer, on 1-2 throw the slider down and away. Like out of the strike zone away (but start the pitch in the zone).

That's if your a RHP throwing to a righty or a LHP throwing to a lefty.

Tie them up with a High Cutter. Gets them a lot.

0-2? Waste pitch, AKA set-up or purpose pitch.

This MLB.com article is interesting and may give you some insight, http://goo.gl/maJRk (had to use a url shortener since MLB doesn't link well here)

Changeup low and away or fastball outside

thanks for the advice. i usually try the slider the slides out of the zone but i dont think i have enough break yet on my slider. i also try a curveball low but they usually foul that off. yea on 0-2 i try waste pitch but i shouldve of clarified i need a strike out pitch for any count. havent tried a cutter yet but i will. thanks keep the suggestions coming please

That's why I AKA'd it the setup or purpose pitch. A strike out pitch depends on what you threw before it. Also depends on what skill level you're playing on but the A.I. isn't dumb in this game. You have to keep them off balance by changing speeds, high/low, inside/outside.

Best combo in the game is a fastball/change up. For me anyway.

Edit: BTW, the search function really works well here at OS too: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...out-pitch.html

Re: RTTS ? for a pitcher

My RTTS Pitcher carries a 4SFB, Cutter, Circle Change, Slider, and 12-6 Curve.

They are all maxed out at 99 right now but when I was pitching in the minors, my Slider away was the money pitch, for right handers, and the CC in the low outside corner for lefty's.

Since maxing out most of my pitches, though, a 99-101MPH 4SFB high or even inside has been locking them up good.

Since introducing the 12-6, it has been mediocre at best. If you started with the cruve, I am sure your catcher is calling for it a lot but I have learned that, even maxed to 99, guys can and will t off on it.

Edit: By the way, leaning on my Slider and CC, I finished first in the league in Strikeouts. Something to think about.
