30 team control - what are the pros/cons?

Why exactly do people do 30 team control but then set all franchise options for the teams they arent playing with to auto? I dont get it. Just looking for peoples input as to why this is a good option.

30 team control with all of the options set to "auto" is used to protect the CPU teams from botching the lineups as badly as it would if you just let the CPU do its own thing, especially out of Spring Training. It also gives you control to keep trading "off" until closer to the deadline. At least in MLB 12 and prior, with trading on, you would begin to see a lot of trades take place in May and early June... and A LOT of trades. By the time July came and went, the teams would sometimes be unrecognizable.

The only real CON that I can think of is the in-game scoreboards and on-screen ticker at the bottom of the screen will never display any game scores. Kind of a drag, but eventually you forget about it.

Other than that, it's very nice being able to "fix" things that the CPU might do on it's own that might otherwise ruin your franchise for you.

Go to
VIEW TODAY'S GAMES...and sim the other games in the league for that day.
THEN play your game(you have to hide the winner of the games on the left of the screen somehow...I use my foot on the desk)
The scoreboards and ticker will display.

Simple fix, sim the other games on the schedule first, then play your game.

Thanks Knight! Man, you really are the best!

I redact my "Con." There are no cons.

PS- Knight, I saw your trick of using a third profile for the CPU in series that you play against them. Brilliant. Finally don't have to face stupidly silly lineups.

Just don't sim past the scheduled start time of the game you want to play, which I have done several times already

Really? what happens when you do this? I am late to '13 this year, so I am still in Spring Training working on finding my slider set for the regular season....but in years past simming them all was fine, and those games that were for later, past your own game's start time, they would still behave right, being night games and all that.
