FenwayMac 2022 Legend Pitching/HOF Hitting Sliders

AVAILABLE IN VAULT under user SlippinJimmy708

Hey all! I surfaced for a couple weeks from Diamond Dynasty to jump in and calibrate a slider set for my franchise that I typically start around now and run through the winter. I have to say it is becoming increasingly difficult to balance out sliders, especially for the CPU, but I kept at it and feel that I have stumbled upon a Legend Pitching/HOF Hitting combo that gives pretty decent results and a lot of fun games. For the OP I will just list out the settings (Also available in the Show Vault) but I can use future posts to give my thoughts on the balancing the sliders as well as answer any questions that you may have.

Re: FenwayMac 2022 Legend Pitching/HOF Hitting Sliders

An overview of my slider mindset and input settings:

As a general rule, my overall goal of my slider set is to find a way to distribute hit types in accordance with league average as well as find a way to create scoring plays that are other than singles and homeruns. These games are traditionally homerun happy, and I like to see more plays scored by doubles, triples, sac flies, walks (it can happen) and other oddities like passed balls, etc.

From a spread percentage, I like to see roughly 65% singles, 20% doubles, 3% triples and 12% homeruns, all give or take 2-3%. by toning down the power and actually increasing the contact, combined with timing and solid hits tweaks, this can be achievable, and can make a huge difference in game play experience.

I generally tweak my settings as the season progresses and I need more of a challenge. The hope is that I only need to tweak pitch speeds rather that more impactful sliders, but on occasion a change is needed and I will always report them here when that happens.

I track my data via a basic excel spreadsheet to identify any trends. I track singles, doubles, triples, Homeruns, errors, walks (taken and given) and K's (taken and given). I also track percentages for pitch strike %, first pitch strike %, foul ball%, miss%, and the spead of fly balls vs line drives vs ground balls. Finally i track how all scoring plays occurred each game and break them down into percentages. I have never found any website that carries actual mlb scoring plays breakdowns, so I basically just like to see a nice spread other than homeruns and singles.

if you have any questions about any of these stats or how they are tracking during my season feel free to reach out.

in regards to hitting and pitching inputs, I use Zone hitting and Pinpoint pitching.

Zone hitting is pretty well understood. I like to have as much control over end results of hitting based on the inputs that I supply. If I am off, I want it to factor into the game results, same as if I am on fire that day. Hitting is like a golf swing and should ebb and flow. The game will still find a way to integrate plenty of simulation into the results, but I like to control what I can.

Pinpoint Pitching is new to me this year. i avoided it last year and chose to use meter pitching because I liked how I could manipulate pitch movement as well as velocity using meter. But, once I started using pinpoint, I really appreciated how significantly my inputs affect the end result. If I am shaky with my movements, the pitch end location can result in more walks. If I release ever so slightly early, i can hang a pitch in the zone (and with CPU power at 7, can pay a heavy price). I can also gather more strikeouts by being more deliberate with pitch movement and location. i REALLY like the results I get, both positive and negative, from this interface. I could not imagine NOT using Pinpoint moving forward.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

I noticed you went with the Competitive Gameplay style. Is there any difference when playing offline franchise?

Good Spot! Honestly, i spend a majority of my time playing online DD, and i think the game pulled in my competitive setting from that and i just rolled with it. But this setting makes good sense for my play style because i want my inputs to make an impact on my performance. If my PCI is under the ball or if if am pulling down too early on pinpoint, it should affect my results.

Believe me though, there is still plenty of simulation going on here. I went into the 9th with a three run lead and then gave up…four runs.

I would be curious the results you get setting to simulation. I calibrated at competitive so i cannot speak to the differences they may create.

Re: FenwayMac 2022 Legend Pitching/HOF Hitting Sliders

I am now 10 games in and sitting at 4-6 overall. The CPU definitely has teeth and i will need to learn to keep my focus through critical moments. The hitting numbers are starting to round into form, but it is still pretty early. I will share some stats in future posts.

I have noticed a couple weird glitches in the season that may be well known but are new to me so i wanted to check to see if you are seeing them as well and if there are any workarounds to the issues.

1) when i try to bring either a pinch hitter or a pinch runner into the game, the stats wipe out completely , night becomes day again, and essentially everything is wacky. I have quit out of some pretty good games because if this, but not sure if the stats still tally correctly when the game is ended and logged? Going to be a long season if i cannot pinch hit or run.

2) runners attempting steals even though i have not sent them. I THINK this may be from setting my anchor before each at bat and maybe brushing the trigger button. I am being super careful to only use the stick when setting the anchor, but not sure if this just a glitch or not.

Fall ball update.

Once San Diego decided to load their team up, I lost interest in continuing my franchise with them. I decided to start fresh with the Pittsburgh Pirates. I love their stadium as well as all the stadiums in the division so I figured it would be a good time. Still using the sliders as listed in the OP and have been really enjoying the experience thus far. Below is a summary of stats that I track. Please let me know if you have any questions.
