2K has severely worsened the presentation quality in ERAS

I noticed a slight dip in the colors / lighting / filter quality for 2K24…but this year it’s pretty severe

2K23

2K24

2K25

Yikes 😬

It's one thing to judge lighting / reflections, which we can kinda see already, but it's hard to judge raw picture quality until the game is in our hands. All three of those screenshots look 10x worse than any 2K actually looks on anyone's monitor or TV.

We do this year in and yes out. Hang on all these releases of info. I get it's marketing. I'm waiting before I pass judgement lol

I don’t think that’s the case anymore. 2K24 was such a severe graphical downgrade which was apparent from the first pics. 2K25 seems the same. I guarantee it’ll look just as bad as it does in pics, just like 24 did.

I’m truly baffled by what’s going on with 2K graphically. Worse and worse yearly. Though I feel there’s no way it can get worse than 24 hopefully.

I'm not. It's filters. You can duck around with the settings yourself. All the photos in the OP look like a different filter. Go into 2K24 right now and pay around with the settings in a replay. You'll quickly realize that's all they probably changed....

I get trying to be optimistic. But this is not hard to judge at all. What we see is what it is.

Of course a screenshot won’t look as good as what’s presented on the TV. But these screenshots are enough indication that the Eras presentation has been downgraded severely. Just from the colors and lighting alone. Look how dark the crowd is in 25 compared to 23 and 24. Look at the exaggerated shadows. That 25 shot looks far less like an 80’s broadcast than the other two.

I wish there was transparency and communication about things like this. Anyone can look at the games and notice visual downgrades. It's not about screenshots making the game look worse or not being representative of what we see on our TVs. 2k24 objectively looked worse than 2k23.

It'd be appreciated if the visual team addressed it. Are there reasons for the downgrades? Is it an artistic choice? Are they hitting limitations and issues? Can these areas be tuned with patches?

What's also frustrating is that they seem to value the feedback from certain fans more than others. The changes and adjustments made throughout the year based on community feedback caters to the My Park/Career crowd. Yet, when people are giving feedback about lighting, court reflections, filters, etc it's like there's no response.

I'd love for 2K to actually attempt to make adjustments in these areas through patches. How about a response like, "we heard concerns about the filters in Eras mode. We made adjustments based on community feedback. Let us know what you think." We've seen games transform through patches. There's no reason we should go a whole year without any acknowledgement of our concerns hoping that things will be better with the new release, only for nothing to be said or changed and the cycle repeated.

The lack of fixes is one thing, the lack of acknowledgement is even worse.
