This goes right up there with last year's "this is the biggest 2K announcement ever" as textbook examples of both fantastic/infuriating marketing. Fantastic in the sense that they have us in their pocket - listening to every tweet/post/update, knowing full-well that we'll get the game regardless of their promotional tactics.

Infuriating in the sense that they also know that this isn't what anyone wanted or expected but they hyped it up to be something it isn't.
