Re: Startup bug
Delete "Living Rosters," "NBA Today," "Online Game Data," and anything labeled "Home" if present.
NOTE: this section of your Hard Drive also includes your Save Files. Do NOT delete any files other than the ones listed here. Find any files labeled "Settings" and "Sliders" and delete them.
Next, delete "NBA 2K14 Additional Data."
NOTE: you may lose items such as downloaded items (2K Share, patches, roster, shoes). These can be later recovered or recreated. This procedure will not delete your Gamertag, Achievements or Save games.
Load the game after doing so to see if the fix cleared up the crashing and freezing. If it did not, most likely the 2kservers are down.
Then you just have to turn -off your internet load the game to get pass the screen, then turn back on your internet, then sign in again. You'll be able to play the game, but not the modes you can play online.
Sometimes you have to just wait it out, with all the updates (jerseys, shoes, ratings, etc...) sometimes 10min will go pass. I'll just switch the channel & watch t.v. then check back in every few minutes to see if it took.
