Super Bowl 44 - The Super, Way TOO-Early Prediction: Vikings/Patriots

Trying to get this out there early!

Vikes/Pats Super Bowl 44. I think Favre will come back one last time and give that Minnesota deep passing game just what it needed: ability to make plays. Berrian = cha ching.

Harvin will be a huge weapon and ADP is the odds on #1 fantasy player in all of football, so you know he will have huge numbers in 09.

Vikes rush defense one of best in all of NFL with tremendous front four (Williams duo and Jared Allen).

Patriots are LOADED. Moss to Brady is back, the 50 TD and 23 TD duo, yeah that one. Add Fred Taylor and Joey Galloway to the mix and you have one heck of veteran club. Defensive secondary a weak spot if they have one. Still think Brady/Belichick/Moss are steaming from the NYG Super Bowl loss.

However, I think good arguments can be made for teams like the Steelers, Giants, Eagles, and Chargers to make it to the big game as well. But it is really, really hard to repeat in NFL as Super Bowl Champs (Pittsburgh), Eli still has nobody to rely on in passing game to make big plays (NYG), Westbrook looking really iffy at this point to start the season (Philly), and Norv Turner is still the head coach (San Diego).

Colts have no shot with new coaches all over the place (despite Peyton calling the offensive shots)....BTW - will this be the first time ever we have a player/offensive coordinator in the league?

Titans will really miss Haynesworth. I think Collins gets hurt and Vince Young has to play a huge role this year.

I think Kansas City will have the#1 pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and select Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma.

Enough with the super-too early predictions, what do you ladies and gents think? Who do you have in your Super Bowl???

[cannot wait to come check this at the end of the season!...]

Two things: the Vikings will not make the superbowl. Favre will only make them worse. They need a real QB.

Second is, Colt McCoy will go first in the draft next year.

SB: Steelers v. Panthers, champs repeat.
Worst Record goes to the Broncos, who take McCoy. That would be ideal for them IMO, and best of luck to Captain Neckbeard on finding a job in '10.

You heard it here folks.

Up until Favre hurt his shoulder, he was arguably the best quarterback in the league last year and had people talking about the Jets as Super Bowl contenders. I don't understand how one can say he wouldn't be "a real quarterback", if indeed he can return and be what he was before that injury. That's a huge if given his advanced age for a football player, though.

As far as my way-too-early Super Bowl prediction? Steelers over the Giants; I think the Steelers get past Brady, and the Giants get out of the NFC somehow; I like both of these teams due to their insane and effective pass rush schemes.

I think that my Cowboys will get to the playoffs this year, and possibly Romo gets his first and much-needed playoff win, but a few key pieces need to fall into place for them to be a Super team this year compared to the established elite teams of the league.

My way-too-early number one pick, realistically, is some offensive tackle I haven't heard of, but given that I'm not well-versed on the top offensive linemen returning to college this year, I'll just say my choice is Tim Tebow because he is Football Jesus.

Most mock drafts have had Bradford at 1, Gerald McCoy at 2, and McCoy was around 5-10. Also, if Bradford leaves after this year, there's no doubt that he'll be #1, and Colt should be around 3 or 4.

I think this is a good prediction. If the Vikes can get a real QB (if it's Favre or not) they have a good shot at going deep into the Playoffs.

The McCoy thing was only a guess, but you're right about the mocks, so I'll have to agree. Although I don't think Bradford is as good as he is hyped to be. I don't know why, but I don't like him. :/

And to Krioniq, the chances of Favre coming back strong are slim. You did acknowledge that though. I just don't think Brett is what the Vikes need though. I think they need a safer, more efficient QB. Like the early Favre of last season (like you said). But I really don't see Brett playing that way again. Just my opinion...
