TIGERS SWEEP MARINERS
Kyle Dutcher (40) homered in the top of the 9th, to lead the Tigers to a 6-5 win over the Mariners. Mike Trout (29) also homered. Jose Agua and Spencer Torkelson each had a pair of RBI.
For the second consecutive game, Kyle Dutcher (41) hit a late go ahead home run, giving the Tigers a 2-1 win. Casey Mize allowed one run in six innings, but got a no decision. Paul Cobra earned the win in relief.
The Tigers trailed 2-1 in the top of the 9th, when rookie catcher Pat Lemmon hit a grand slam off of Mariners closer Andres Munoz, powering the Tigers to a 5-2 win, and series sweep. Tarik Skubal allowed two runs in seven innings, taking a no decision. Jason Foley (4-0) picked up the win in relief.
The Tigers now head to San Francisco, for a three game weekend series against the Giants (62-55).

TIGERS SWEEP ROYALS
Game one between the Royals and Tigers was a slugfest, as the Tigers hung on to beat the Royals 12-9. Spencer Torkelson drive in four. Mike Trout (26) homered for the first time since being acquired by Detroit. Jose Agua (24) and Pat Lemmon (2) also homered. Casey Mize (14-3) allowed four runs in five innings, but picked up the win.
The Tigers won game two, 5-1, behind six one run innings by Tarik Skubal (22-0). Jake ROgers (18) hit a pair of home runs, and Mike Trout (27) homered for the second consecutive game.
The Tigers took game three, 3-1. Justin Verlander (11-5) was dominant for the third straight game, allowing no runs in eight innings. In three starts with the Tigers, he has yet to allow a single run.
The Tigers trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth, when Mike Trout (28) hit a walk off two run home run, to complete the sweep. Trout had three RBI in the game. Andrew Chafin (5-1) earned the win in relief.
The Tigers have an off day on Monday August 5th. They then head out on a six game road trip, starting with three games in Seattle against the first place Mariners (64-49). They will then head to San Francisco, to take on the Giants (58-55).

TIGERS ACQUIRE TROUT FROM ANGELS
The Detroit Tigers have landed the biggest fish at the 2024 MLB Trade Deadline. Detroit has acquired disgruntled outfielder Mike Trout from the Los Angeles Angels, for a package of players.
Trout who was hitting .271 with 25 HR and 65 RBI in 98 games with the Angels, had requested a trade just a couple days earlier, after the Angels traded Brandon Drury and Taylor Ward to the Phillies.
There was some speculation as to if the Angels would actually deal Trout, but he then threatened retirement if they didn't. Detroit stepped in, and worked out a deal with the Angels. Trout, who has a full no-trade clause, agreed to waive it, to join the Tigers for the playoff run.
The Tigers are sending four players back to the Angels. Center field prospect Max Clark is the biggest chip. The Angels will also receive third base prospect Jace Jung, along with pitcher Reese Olson, and outfielder Matt Vierling. Olson and Vierling are expected to remain with the Angels. Olson was 3-1 with a save, in 34 innings with the Tigers. He had a 3.18 ERA. Vierling hit .293 with 3 HR and 10 RBI in 47 games with the Tigers. Olson is expected to join the Angels rotation, while Vierling will likely take Trout's spot in right field.
Meanwhile, Trout goes from the outhouse to the penthouse. The Tigers currently have the best record in the Major Leagues, and are poised to make the playoffs for the first time since 2014. Trout is expected to hit second in the Tiger lineup, and play right field on most nights.

TIGERS SWEEP TWO GAME SERIES VS GUARDIANS
Kyle Dutcher (39) and Colt Keith (10) homered twice, and drove in five runs each, as the Tigers beat the Guardians 11-0. Pat Lemmon also had an RBI. Jack Flaherty (13-2) tossed seven shutout innings, to earn his 13th win of the season.
The Tigers beat the Guardians 3-1 behind six and two thirds one run innings by Matt Manning (13-3). Riley Greene, Spencer Torkelson, and Andy Ibanez had RBI.
The Tigers will be off on Wednesday, then will host the Kansas City Royals (50-59) in a four game series at Comerica Park, beginning on Thursday. The Trade Deadline is Wednesday.

TIGERS SWEEP TWINS
The Tigers opened their three game series with the Twins by winning game one 3-2. Casey Mize (13-3) tossed six shutout innings to earn the win. Javier Baez, Jake Rogers, and Colt Keith had RBIs for Detroit.
Detroit took game two, 3-2. Tarik Skubal (21-0) allowed two runs on four hits in seven innings, to earn the win. Alex Lange picked up his 40th save. Colt Keith (8) homered, and drove in two.
Justin Verlander (10-5) tossed his second straight complete game shutout, and the Tigers slugged five home runs, as they beat the Twins 15-0 in game three, completing the sweep. Verlander allowed just four hits, while striking out thirteen. Jose Agua (23), Riley Greene (23), Spencer Torkelson (33), Mark Canha (12), and Pat Lemmon (1) homered for the Tigers.
The Tigers remain home, to host the Cleveland Guardians (39-68) for a quick two game series, before an off day on July 31. The Trade Deadline is the 31st.

PHILLIES ACQUIRE DRURY, WAR
The Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Angels have agreed to a deal that will send 2B Brandon Drury, and OF Taylor Ward to the Phillies, in exchange for CF Johan Rojas, SP Andrew Painter, and SS Devin Saltiban.
TROUT REQUESTS TRADE
Following the trade that sent Brandon Drury, and Taylor Ward to the Phillies, Superstar outfielder Mike Trout lashed out at the Angel's front office, and owner. "There is no path, no direction here. They just gave up. I want to win. I don't want any part in yet another re-build, re-tooling, or whatever they want to call it. I want out. I want a trade. I've given Perry (Minasian, Angels' GM) and Arte (Moreno, Angels' owner) a list of teams that I will accept a trade to.
