Hahah Tug Hulett doesn't play for the mariners anymore LOL. Anyways I was a little disapointed with teh celebration at the end but I'm not going to read into it cause this is a beta version of the game we are seeing so it could be different in the final version if not so be it. Like the mod said ' This is the first time in a sports game that real time atmosphere has been tried there's bound to be some hiccups" or somthing to that affect. Love what I've seen from this game so far it's a step up from last year in my mind at this point.

omg I'm so tired of the "I can't wait till MVP can make games again" you do all realize that more than half of the guys who worked on MVP also worked on MLB2K7 and 8 right? This game is not that far from where MVP was. Its missing the smoothness that comes with EA developed games and the good animations that MVP had. A lot of the other parts of the MVP machine are already in place in this series. Now that theres a legitimate experienced sports developer making this game just give it a year or two and you'll have the best baseball game you've ever played I gaurentee it

the animations and animation transitions look terrible. I'm sorry but if I wasn't getting this game for free, I don't think I'd own it. Gameplay is the most important but when the graphics are this poor and the animations are bad as well, there isn't much to keep you sucked into the game....

There has been a few videos with deep pitch counts for example (can't remember the 2 teams) but the CPU took 2 pitches on the outside corner for a ball and then he swung and fouled one off then gott the count to 2-2 before fouling off one more pitch then putting the ball in play the next pitch.

Don't get me wrong. It is disappointing to see the lack of emotion from Branyan.

NBA2K and NBA Live does this. It isnt the first time. Just sayin'.

As far as the video, I noticed these very issues with the initial videos came out (but much more noticeable here). The novelty will wear thin due to problems with the animation transitions, and poor face mapping, etc.

They are even more noticeable here.

As far as the hit variety, that is another concern all together.

I don't really see what is wrong with the graphics in my opinion but to each his own I guess. The animations at times do look bad I will give you that.

No, that's the problem with the Mariners. Seems pretty accurate to me!

I will reserve judgment until I play the demo. Even then I will only worry about the game having major problems but I won't know until I buy it AND play it.

In some sense true but that last at bat bringing Ichiro home sure was no lazy ground ball or pop-up. Seemed like a screeming line drive through the mound right up the middle to me

Also, no one even mentioned the crowd being up on its feet during the bottom of the ninth. Sad. From that vidoe, while the celebration may look somewhat wrong and subdued, I thing the crowd animation in the background when the Mariners are at bat is pretty freekin cool. I think VC did a good job with that.

There were two comments about the gameplay that were simply wrong.

#1 The third baseman had NO shot at the popup single to start the inning. Saying he should have gone after a ball that was clearly down the leftfield line was bizarre...

#2 The centerfielder did throw the ball in on the game winning single. He quickly threw it to the cutoff man. He had no shot to throw Ichiro out from Centerfield. He did the only thing he could. By the time the cutoff man got the ball, the game was over...

Geez, that video had BETA written all over it.. Thanks again Steve for posting this.

Ok so Branyan did not celebrate that much but the dugout did a little and the fact the crowd was standing the whole bottom of the 9th, tells me that the game is improving heavily over last year's.

Wait and see how that one plays out in different scenarios like a walk off or another park or player. This is by no means a make or break situation as most people should appreciate VC's efforts in one year.

See what happens in different scenarios

It's the final lap now. We've seen the videos, the demo will arrive next week and then March 3rd will be here.

I'll still break out my cigar and pour me a glass of my favorite whiskey to celebrate the occasion.

I am not allowed to smoke cigars in the house, but I will second that glass or two of Jamie, and a long night on March 3rd!

This is clearly video of an unfinished product. I still think the game looks great overall and look forward to playing it in just under two weeks!

Is this still from the beta? I am impressed and looking forward to this one. I hope online play is solid because that is where I will be.

All the real time stuff and ultra realistic AI is nice to have but the majority of the time I'll be quick playing vs human AI so not as much of a game breaker to me. It is hard to expect any game - shooter, racer, whatever - to have AI comparable to a humans. There are a massive ton of situations in baseball let alone giving every person in the stadium real time behavior. I would never expect human like logic 100% of the time. If baseball logic was so easy then everyone would be a manager or at least in agreement with every choice a manager makes.

Bro..
No way...no how...
The CF'er was 30 feet from the cut-off man.
If that was the only thing he could do..GET OUT OF BASEBALL.
Sorry...but that ball has to be thrown home.
Watch the video again.
