REDWOOD CITY, Calif., - October 19, 2010 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), announced that EA SPORTS™ MMA is available in stores throughout North America starting today and will launch worldwide beginning October 22 and in Japan on November 11. EA SPORTS MMA, offering the most authentic, intense and broadest mixed martial arts experience to date, allows players to travel the world and learn a multitude of fighting techniques and skills. The game features a vast array of world-class fighters, and players can extend their gaming experience online through a first-of-its-kind feature - EA SPORTS Live Broadcast.

Fighters can further showcase their MMA skills to the world through EA SPORTS Live Broadcast in which players can create their own fighter and then produce a hype video to get noticed by an actual EA SPORTS promoter. Once selected by the EA SPORTS promoter, players will be able to have their fight broadcast online through EA SPORTS Live Broadcast, while a live commentator calls every move made during the fight. Moreover, each EA SPORTS Live Broadcast fight can be viewed on game consoles or online via the web.

“EA SPORTS MMA is the most immersive and authentic mixed martial arts experience available, bringing together great fighters, opportunities to train and fight internationally and features that allow players to prove their skills online to a wide audience,” said EA SPORTS MMA Executive Producer Dale Jackson. “EA SPORTS is excited to bring this highly anticipated title to mixed martial arts fans and help grow the popularity of the sport worldwide.”

EA SPORTS MMA provides the definitive mixed martial arts experience, featuring multiple disciplines, rule sets, locations and fighters from all over the world. Players can fight in a ring, hexagonal or circular cage, and the MMA environment comes to life with ring girls, corner men and referees. Ring announcer Jimmy Lennon Jr. provides fighter introductions while Big John McCarthy officiates fights and MMA legend Frank Shamrock and commentator Mauro Ranallo call the action.

Through career mode, fighters will be able to train in locations around the world with legends of the sport such as Randy Couture, Pat Miletich, Rickson Gracie and Bas Rutten, visiting gyms in Japan, Brazil, Thailand and the U.S. While training internationally, players will teach their fighter new skills as they rise up the ranks to make it to one of the biggest stages in MMA – STRIKEFORCE.

Other key features within EA SPORTS MMA include:
  • Fighter Share – Players can put themselves into the world of MMA training and fighting and begin the quest to become a champion. They can upload photos of themselves and use Photo Game Face to create their own, personalized roster of fighters. Display and share these create-a-fighters via Fighter Share by uploading and browsing other created fighters. In addition, through Fighter Share players can download and try out any fighters created by the passionate EA SPORTS MMA community.
  • Customize Your Own Fight Card – Become a promoter and set up a night of fights with your friends. With the ability to host four fights per card with up to 10 people connected*, players can challenge each other to fights, and talk trash while friends provide commentary to the fight.
  • Total Strike Control – Through an intuitive control system for striking, elbow, knees and kicks, players can go on the offensive with Total Strike Control, providing the utmost flexibility for their fighters. EA SPORTS MMA also provides the flexibility for those who prefer fighting using face buttons with the Classic Control scheme.
Sherdog MMA Fighter Exchange Program brought to you by EA SPORTS MMA

Announced on October 11, EA SPORTS will be sponsoring the Sherdog MMA Fighter Exchange program, which mirrors EA SPORTS MMA’s career mode where young fighters travel the globe to learn various martial arts disciplines.

The program gives four up-and-coming fighters the opportunity to learn new fighting techniques and disciplines while training with STRIKEFORCE MMA superstars that appear in EA SPORTS MMA. Two North American fighters will train in Japan and Brazil under the tutelage of Luke Rockhold and Jason “Mayhem” Miller, while two international fighters, will be mentored by Gegard Mousasi and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in the U.S.

Sherdog.com will provide a behind-the-scenes look throughout the fight camps with blog and video coverage of the fighters. After weeks of training, the four fighters will make their STRIKEFORCE debut, as an undercard, during the December 4 fight featuring Dan Henderson vs. Renato “Babalu” Sobral, which will be streamed online by Sherdog.com.

EA SPORTS MMA will be available on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the iPhone® and iPod® touch.

Ok, the game definitely keeps me coming back for more. Demo really doesn't do the full game justice. The submissions are unbelievable. Fought a guy who kept going for chain submissions in one the 20 min fights, I kept getting out, I was zoned in as if I were watching a real match.

I hope EA doesn't get the license, id rather have these different types of matches and venues than a UFC game.

I have not had this much fun since UFC 09 this game is an absolute blast. Saw my first one punch KO after about 60-70 fights, and it happened to me. I was just stunned to see it happen, my fighter was better in every way I just went in too confident thinking it would be easy. I just leaned into a perfect uppercut and dropped like a rock it was my first loss with that career and it was to an absolute tomato can 20 seconds in the first round..Loved it!

Career will hold me for a long time, fighting Fedor 2 times splitting one each with my Fedor clone was amazing I'm about to go into fight number 3 and I'm actually kinda nervous haha.

I just soccer kicked a guy in the face and then stomped on his head. Never even dreamed of doing that in UFC. This game is awesome!!

Legend. Going well I won the belt and lost it and had trouble getting a winning streak going to get another shot. Damn good balance if you ask me.

If you're in the sprawl you can hit them with some knees to the head. Haven't been able to do kicks other than them being rocked though.

The soccer kick is after your opponent goes down stunned you perform a soccer kick right to the opponents head. Not really sure how I head stomped him, I was so excited after landing a soccer kick I just was hoping to end the fight.

Its great how guys actually touch gloves in this game. Its cool how some guys will touch gloves, some just ignore you, and some taunt you for it. I taunted a guy back and my guy just shook his head at the guy, thought that was a nice touch.

first fight i had involved both fighters from fightershare....

rampage (me) vs machida (cpu).....

edited both fighters and machida had better stats in basically every category except power and the clinch.

played on hard difficulty....

first round, I had a lot of trouble hitting machida but it was pretty even....he landed many more strikes, but i took him down once and got some points. slight edge to machida.

2nd round I opened up and apparently opened up too much....counter city from machida, and i started to get bust up....then he started to leg kick me....i couldnt do a thing and rampage was laboring. I usually play with no HUD but this match I played with a HUD to see how the game works.

So by the middle 2nd round, my leg health was halved, my head health was nearly halved, and I was bleeding badly. I noticed the more success machida had with the leg kicks, he kept going at it and the announcers also took notice. That's a good sign for the AI....

machida at this point had nearly full health in all categories and Rampage was in shambles...but out of nowhere a counter left hook landed beautifully on Machida coming in |(who has an 86 chin in the game btw)....and Machida DROPPED .....I couldn't believe it....it felt so real. Basically a slugger's luck...lucky punch, hail mary or whatever else you wanna call it.

Machida was down half out, and 3 shots to the head later, match was over.

Never experienced a moment like this in ufc 09 ( didn't get 10)....In 09 after 2 rounds, if your health was half depleted and the cpu's was nearly full...it was pretty much a given you're either gonna lose by points (avoid punches and play it safe) or you're gonna get KOed in the next big exchange. Not so in EA MMA

After the fight I checked out some stats....Machida landed like 110 strikes compared to my 45....got abused up until the finish really. To be honest....the finish reminded me a lot of shogun machida 2. Great 1st match.

the next 2 fights with the same fighters I lost by TKO and points....couldn't reproduce the 1st outing, but at least I know that a fight can always be turned by ONE SINGLE blow.

Love it love it love it! Played Japanese rules, not sure what the position is called, but he went for the takedown and I stuffed him on the ground, was kind of in a head lock. Anyway had the guy down, and I friggin knee'd him in the head. First time I saw it, I jumped outta my seat. Went to a decision, I lost of course. Having a real tough time beating the CPU on medium.

What I love about this game so far, the CPU worries me. If I'm fighting a BJJ guy, I don't ever want to goto the ground. Guys will pull combos into takedowns. Guys fight exactly to their strengths.

First of all, Let me say that this is a very good game. The balance offline is implemented very well and the AI plays tough but fair for the most part.

Second, I haven't ventured online yet, I wanted to get a feel for the controls a little better before I do that. Also, I keep reading about the the Button hook spammers and bad memories return from FN round 4.

Anyway, I am sold on the gameplay and looking forward to one day playing some of the OS'ers online.

Peace

Quick Question Guys since I know most of you will be straight forward with me.

Should I buy this game, I have been contemplating it for the last few days and Im right on the verge.

Is it better than UFC 10? I really didnt enjoy that game and it felt WAY TOO ARCADY for my taste, the presentation and such were nice but the Gameplay and Stupid Career mode killed it for me.

Is the game I should be buying especially if Ill be spending most of my time offline?

Also how many fighters can we download, I would like to have some stacked divisions.
