Gamesradar has posted their NBA 2K13 preview and talks about some of the new features, including Total Sim Control.
Quote:
Finally, this year's Association Mode will have some new wrinkles. It's updated with the same real-world contract refinements that came out of last year's post-lockout collective bargaining agreement. There's also a new feature called Total Sim Control that gives you far more sway over the games you choose to simulate over the course of a long season. Want Steve Nash to shoot more than Kobe? Want to ensure that your team plays the defense they would if you were playing a full game yourself? Now you can program those choices into the process. And, arguably the biggest addition? If you're not picking the game up on launch day, you can download all of the real-world statistics and injury data up to the day you start playing.

Isn't this basically just a roster update?
If it doesn't extend into game modes (Association/MP) then yea it's just a roster update with an updated StatsY1 field.
I might be wrong, but the article made it sound like the team record and current date will extend into the game mode so that you could start an Association on the current day with everyone having the same exact record/statistics/injuries as on that day. If so, then that's great news. The only way we could do that in 2K12 was through REDitor and a LOT of work.
Yep. That's the Rookie Showcase "Stars" jersey. Same exact jersey as 2k12
If that's the case, then maybe we can't choose to change jerseys?? In one Ronnie's last screenshots, people were beginning to assume that the Home Clipper's jersey on the Mavericks court meant we might be able to choose what jersey we wanted to wear but this pic also has the Mavs court in the background. Keeping my fingers crossed that we'll be able to wear alt's and throwbacks this year.

I think your right. Lets say you get the game on Christmas. If you chose to, you could start your association on Dec. 25 with up to date Stats, standings, and injurys as of Dec. 25. Then continue from Christmas until the end of the year.
...Plus, the new Signature Skills moves (which were unveiled during our prior hands-on) extend into your player. The triple-tiered perk system ranges from having a sharper eye for three-pointers all the way up to a player/coach role that lets you completely dictate the play of the team based on your whims...
So...does this mean we have Gold, Silver and Bronze? Because if so...
Question that needs to be answered before the season starts:
Does the ability to have injuries and statistics only apply to the default 2K rosters?
Most important question of them all ... hopefully they give us the option to decide to start from season start or from that point in time ... in other words, the option to use it or not.
If updated stats, standings and such can be had on custom rosters, then, so could/can updated accesories, player models and alike be had too ...
Then again, I doubt it as I am relating this to last year never delivered so called "dynamic updates" ... thus hope is the last thing that we should abandon so, here is hope to them giving us the option to use this feature with custom rosters ...
P.S:
Really interested on the details of total sim control, like the generals but would like to know the real extend and details.
I hope this news helps some people understand that after a big announcement is made for casuals (Jay-Z, style closet) that news is immediately followed up by deep gameplay fixes.
I personally like everything that I've seen and heard so far.
If so and if it applies to regular players in all modes, then that's a HUGE improvement.
Yes, yes it would be. Trying so hard not to get my hopes up...but here I was thinking something like this would have to be implemented next year since it's the first year they're doing this but looks like we may not have to wait that long at all.

That's actually not how I understood that, don't take me wrong I'd love if every SS was broken down into 3 tiers but it actually appears that they are saying there's 3 different levels of importance/power to all SS. First tier being something as simple as being a deadeye shooter and 3rd tier being as high as being able to be the "on the floor" coach with more control over the team.
